I currently have the following specifications:
CPU: i3-4160 3.60GHz
GPU: Palit GTX 750 Ti StormX Dual (2048MB GDDR5)
MOBO: Asus H81M-D
Memory: 8GB 2x4GB HyperX Blue DDR3
Case: Generic
PSU: Generic
HDD: 1TB Kingston Black
Cooling: Some stock fans and one additional one

I'm planning on upgrading to the following specs:
CPU: i5-6600 (suggestions are accepted)
GPU: GTX 1080 (suggestions on what brand/model are accepted)
MOBO: Anything that will be compatible with the GPU/CPU/Case (need suggestions)
- If the MOBO has 4 RAM slots then I will be reusing what I currently have if possible
Memory: 16GB DDR3/4 (not sure yet, suggestions are also welcome)
- If the MOBO has 4 RAM slots then I will only buy an additional 8GB if possible
Case: NZXT H440 Black + Red
PSU: Anything that will be compatible with the GPU/CPU/Case
SSD: 2 128GB (OS and Installation folder for games)
HDD: 1TB (resuse the old one), 2TB (will add more if possible)
Cooling: AIR cooling (I guess the water one needs constant maintenance)

I'm not really good at building and I'm not sure if I should upgrade by bulk or by piece. But what I have in mind is to slowly upgrade, piece by piece.

This is my initial plan:

I will buy the [1]case and [2]PSU first, then transfer the components. After saving up a bit I will buy the [3]Mobo and [4]CPU. At this point, only the RAM (2pcs 4gb) and GPU are not yet replaced. Everything will just slowly be completed by this time.

That is without considering the compatibility of the items to buy with the items I currently have.

Primary usage for this will be some casual gaming. Considering that it's a 1080 I think I can play most games(?). Coding stuff and a bit of photoshop. So more of a gaming build really.

Need help on this considering the following things:
1. Lowest budget possible (cheapest GPU but still a good one - performance wise)
2. Can support 3 monitors
3. Might go dual 1080 if possible (less likely but might do if money allows)
4. And also the airflow thing

Suggestions are really welcome. Criticisms also, I have no idea on PC building.

1 = gtx 1060 or gtx 1070 ( if you can afford it? )
2 = see above
3 = see above
4 = depend of your choice of pc case ...somes case have already fan installed and other not
you do not need a cpu cooler since it come with the cpu

for the H440 black pc case ..the fans are included :
Front: 2x 140/3x120mm (3 x 120mm FN V2 Fans Included)
Rear: 1x 140/120mm (1 x 140mm FN V2 Fan Included)

GPU Clearance With HDD Cage: 294mm
GPU Clearance Without HDD Cage: 428mm
CPU Cooler: 180mm

memory = DDR4 with skylake cpu --i5 6600
get a dual channel kit for better performance ..like 2X 4GB DDR4

PSU = get seasonic/evga b2-g2-gs-gq series / corsair rmx-rmi-ax-hx series / superflower
for a good quality one ..THATS THE MOST IMPORTANT COMPONENT IN A PC SO GET A GOOD QUALITY ONE!!

So, with the DDR4 memory in the list, I guess upgrading piece by piece will not be possible since I currently have DDR3 and I've heard that DDR4 and DDR3 cannot be combined.

With your reply, here are some of my inputs:

CPU: i5 6600 (Final)
GPU: GTX 1060 6GB (don't know which brand yet)
MOBO: ~
- Need to be compatible with the case/gpu/cpu/ram
RAM: 2X 4GB DDR4 kit
- I guess 8GB DDR 4 is enough for modern games(?)
- What frequency should I buy?
CASE: NZXT H440 Black+Red (Final)
PSU: Seasonic
- What will be the Watt and the rating thing?
Cooling:
- No problem with this since there are fans included with the case.

GIGABYTE OR MSI ARE GOOD

MOBO: ~ IT DEPEND YOUR BUDGET AND FUTUR NEEDS

- Need to be compatible with the case/gpu/cpu/ram
RAM: 2X 4GB DDR4 kit
- I guess 8GB DDR 4 is enough for modern games(?) YES!

- What frequency should I buy? 2133mhz

CASE: NZXT H440 Black+Red (Final)

PSU: Seasonic
- What will be the Watt and the rating thing? ALL DEPEND ON WHICH GPU SETUP YOU WILL GO
FOR GTX 1060 A 500W AND UP WILL BE ENOUGH , WITH GTX 1070 A 620W AND UP WILL BE GOOD
IF YOU BUY A SEASONIC PSU DO NOT BUY THE S12 SERIES THEY ARE NOT HASWELL READY

Cooling:
- No problem with this since there are fans included with the case

CPU: i5 6600 (Final)
GPU: 3 Options. Will depend on my area
- MSI GeForce GTX 1060 Gaming X Graphics Card (Because it is red lol)
- ASUS GeForce GTX 1060 ROG STRIX Graphics Card (3 Fans. I think it makes it good?)
- Palit GeForce GTX 1060 Jetstream Graphics Card (My current is also a Palit. Proven and tested kind of thing)
MOBO: TBD
RAM: 2X 4GB DDR4 Kit 2133mhz. Looking at the following brands:
- HyperX
- GSkill
CASE: NZXT H440 Black+Red (Final)
PSU: Seasonic 500W+ (any rating the titanium, gold thing)

This is what I have for now. Looks good?

(usually the asus one is always more expensive for nothing ... msi is the best here)

BRONZE OR GOLD ARE ENOUGH

GOOD LIKE THAT

Thank you for your feedback.

I've read that most variants of the GTX 1060 differ only a little bit and that to just go with the cheapest one. But we'll see.

Hello again.

This is all the variants of GTX 1060 in our place (well the popular store only): https://goo.gl/fULprU. And I'm planning on going with the MSI since most review say it is quiet.

But, there will be a GTX 1050 and GTX 1050TI coming. I know 1050 and 1050TI will be cheaper but in terms of performance/price which one is the best buy? 1050, 1050TI, or 1060?
