I currently have the following specifications:
CPU: i3-4160 3.60GHz
GPU: Palit GTX 750 Ti StormX Dual (2048MB GDDR5)
MOBO: Asus H81M-D
Memory: 8GB 2x4GB HyperX Blue DDR3
Case: Generic
PSU: Generic
HDD: 1TB Kingston Black
Cooling: Some stock fans and one additional one
I'm planning on upgrading to the following specs:
CPU: i5-6600 (suggestions are accepted)
GPU: GTX 1080 (suggestions on what brand/model are accepted)
MOBO: Anything that will be compatible with the GPU/CPU/Case (need suggestions)
- If the MOBO has 4 RAM slots then I will be reusing what I currently have if possible
Memory: 16GB DDR3/4 (not sure yet, suggestions are also welcome)
- If the MOBO has 4 RAM slots then I will only buy an additional 8GB if possible
Case: NZXT H440 Black + Red
PSU: Anything that will be compatible with the GPU/CPU/Case
SSD: 2 128GB (OS and Installation folder for games)
HDD: 1TB (resuse the old one), 2TB (will add more if possible)
Cooling: AIR cooling (I guess the water one needs constant maintenance)
I'm not really good at building and I'm not sure if I should upgrade by bulk or by piece. But what I have in mind is to slowly upgrade, piece by piece.
This is my initial plan:
I will buy the [1]case and [2]PSU first, then transfer the components. After saving up a bit I will buy the [3]Mobo and [4]CPU. At this point, only the RAM (2pcs 4gb) and GPU are not yet replaced. Everything will just slowly be completed by this time.
That is without considering the compatibility of the items to buy with the items I currently have.
Primary usage for this will be some casual gaming. Considering that it's a 1080 I think I can play most games(?). Coding stuff and a bit of photoshop. So more of a gaming build really.
Need help on this considering the following things:
1. Lowest budget possible (cheapest GPU but still a good one - performance wise)
2. Can support 3 monitors
3. Might go dual 1080 if possible (less likely but might do if money allows)
4. And also the airflow thing
Suggestions are really welcome. Criticisms also, I have no idea on PC building.
