Need hardware advice

Hi all

I have a question concerning my pc. I currently have a Intel Q6600 2.4 Ghz, 8GB ram, GeForce GT 630 4GB and I am planning to upgrade to a Gigabyte GTX750ti. I was wondering if I upgrade will I be able to play games BF4 on ultra at a 1280x1024 resolution as that's what my monitor is, and could I play Witcher 3 at medium with the same resolution once I have installed the GTX 750ti ?

No, you won't. That CPU and graphics card are WAY below what would be necessary to run BF4 at ultra using a 1080p resolution. You'd need something much more powerful than a 750TI to play any demanding modern game like Battlefield at ultra settings. You might get medium settings with that configuration, but no more than that. Witcher is probably unlikely to play at more than a combination of low to medium settings depending on what features are or are not turned on.

Ive seen people play BF4 on worse GPU on YouTube and they can get ultra, but if I must what CPU would u recommend

I've seen a lot of things on Youtube that are fabricated. It's pretty common. In fact, it's like a plague. There are thousands of fake videos with doctored specs, benchmarks and utility data that's superimposed over the actual gameplay to make themselves, I don't know, look good. Or to just mess with people. While a lot of it is harmless, or actual, a whole lot more isn't. I wouldn't believe anything unrealistic I've seen on there, and playing BF4, which is pretty demanding at ultra, on a 750TI at 1080p is just not realistic.


Here is a REAL benchmark, using a 750TI, on Ultra, at 1080p, and as you can see they got about 22FPS minimum settings with 28FPS average settings. Even on a 30hz monitor which has become pretty uncommon, with 60hz or higher being the norm these days, you'd experience tearing and other issues that would create an unplayable condition based on your criteria.

And that's with an i5-3570k, which is much more capable than your 2.4Ghz core 2 Quad CPU. Which means on top of a GPU that's not capable enough, you'll also have a CPU that can't really cut the mustard and is going to contribute to FPS drops and stuttering beyond what they experienced on their benchmarks.

And those were with motion blur at 50%, MSAA off and no Shadowplay or Gsync enabled.

As I said, you can probably get 60FPS at a combination of medium and low settings. You can play, it just won't be at ultra settings with 1080p. And you'll likely find some things that are unnecessary can be turned off to increase playability.
