Need help about Nvidia SLI

I want to know about Nvidia SLI.I have 1gb graphic card and planning to add 1 more.I want to know do i have to add same graphic card or i can use Other Nvidia cards like 2GB .

1+2 GB ok ?

has to be the same on just about every level other than the PCB maker, but even then you still want it to be from the same board partner. so SLI with two MSI lightnings is a good idea, a Lightning and a Gigabyte card? not so much. pretty much beside the cards having to be the same (So no 1GB and two GB card SLI.) the less differences the better. SLI is already a delicate art, the less factors to deal with the better.

You pretty much have to add the same card 90% of the time, It doesnt matter what brand it is so it could be EGVA/ASUS/anything, but they do have to be the same reference for example if you have a GTX 660, you could only add a GTX 660

Agreed. Ideally you want two of the same cards - the reasons being simple enough:

1) Less issues to deal with if there's a dealbreaker in compatibility.
2) If there is a stronger card and a weaker card, the stronger card will lower to the weaker card settings. You'll lose some performance.

That being said, if they were two identical cards (as in GTX 960 1GB cards), I'd say try it. With the big disparity in memory I wouldn't risk dropping cash on the 2GB card. Just get a 1GB card.

cant say how well it really works but see it used in a few forums on this question ??

Im a believer in using reference like matched cards as well - no crap whih them involved
