Hey everyone I am fairly new to the overclocking area but I cannot even get my CPU over 3.6ghz without it running temps of 60C and higher during prime95 torture test. If I run a test like prime95 my programs will start to crash around 64C and not open and prime95 will crash I wont actually get a BSOD or random shutdown. I am thinking that obviously the stock cpu heatsink and fan cannot handle it and also that I am going about overclocking wrong. I was also hoping to get advice on an air fan or water cooler to get this badboy up and over 4.0GHZ probably like 4.5 im hoping. As well as overclocking advice

Solution
Do not OC with the stock fan, especially with those voltages.. I mean those chips get toasty during OC.. my fx-8350 wouldnt go 100mhz higher on OC with stock fan ()_() without reaching 80C and then climbing slowly higher..

you might wanna look into buying a cooler so you're system has good cooling options..

this would do you pretty nicely.. Would fit in you're case too :)

Click solution if this helped.. and keep me posted

It also sounds like the system is begging for more voltage, or is just crashing because its not getting enough voltage for the OC frequency.. uhm or just because its overheating.. Also.. dont try to use programs.. during a prime95 torture test.. It...

Also.. dont try to use programs.. during a prime95 torture test.. It messes up stuff, and the best thing to do is close all the programs you can before you run the test

Ok good info I just purchased a new case the cooler master full HAF case and a cooler the corsair H100i =p I probably went overboard but I am getting a new CPU for xmas the fx-8120 so I thought I would splurge a bit. Hopefully this solves my overclock problem and I can up the voltage to help out the current one i have right now
