Need help analyzing cause of problem.

Computer suddenly locks up and freezes, no hdd light/activity, and keyboard locks too. Monitor shows whatever it showed at time of freeze and sound hangs at last sound played. How do I post the dump files or event files for analysis.

have you ran it in safe mode to see if it does the same thing

This has been happening, and I think it happened in safe mode to. If the hdd light is not lighting up, it does mean hdd problem, no?

okay if this is happening in safe mode also that mean you might need to repair your OS or do a fresh install. because safe mode is the bare bones of the OS.
You are correct with the lights kind of that just mean there's no activity happening on the harddrive.

okay well before we call your hard drive dead in the water lets try something if you have multiple sticks of ram take all but one out and see if this works.

because i a bad stick of ram can cause an os to freeze up.

Ram or GFX has failed or isnt set right in socket.
Ofthen a "broken" laptop can be repaired by taking the ram out and putting it back in.

I have a desktop, and I reseated my ram and r9 290x. Computer still locks up suddenly with no hdd light flashing. I switched hdd and it still happens which makes me believe that it may not be hdd problem but rather the sata cable or sata slots on my motherboard. It may even be the cpu, but I am hoping to not reseat my cpu because I have a hyper 212 evo and everyone knows how hard it is to put that damn cooler on 🙁
