Need help asap!! How can i connect a woofer with a midrange to divide the sound spectrum

Hey, I just got 2 20 watt 4 ohm woofers and 2 10 watt 8 ohm mid-range. I planned to make a simple soundbox by connecting 1 woofer and 1 midrange in parallel. But i tried and it sounded awful.. Really frustrated. I read something about passive crossovers that are able to divide the sound respectively to the two speakers sound range and which is not supposed to sound that awful. The speakers will mainly be used as voice amplifiers. Help me out as soon as possible, its for a good cause ;(

There are lots of how-to articles on building speakers. There are also lots of passive crossovers -- https://www.parts-express.com/cat/assembled-passive-crossovers/308 You need to do some research on the speakers you have to figure out which crossover is appropriate. A speaker is more than the cones and crossover. It is also the box. You need to work all three to get a good speaker.

First things first. Use either all 4 ohm or all 8 ohm components (matched to the amp output). Mixing and matching will be problematic.

Is there anyway to make it myself? It would be late, perhaps risky if i had to ship one over to me. ( damn they look costly)

i think i would connect them in paralell to match the speaker output.. But without a crossover they sound terribly terribly bad
