Question Need help ASAP setting up new tv

My Samsung S90C 77 inch tv just arrived and I am appalled at how difficult it is to use the setup menu. I am in the very first option of setting up with tv remote. I chose auto setup. It then goes to the internet connection screen. It finds my signal but no WPS? I have to use the actual password? There are options at the top right and left of the screen that say previous and next but I can't interact with them. Is there no way to skip a step in setup?

I have never setup any electronic that doesn't allow you to use WPS. I don't see that option anywhere on the screen.

However, before doing anything be sure to review the entire User Manual to ensure that there is not some related error of omission or commission.

Also: Troubleshooting network issues are presented on Page 214.

I clicked the link but don't see where it says which model of tv the link is for. I did find the online manual on the Samsung website. It is long and I may have skimmed through the left column too quickly but didn't find what I was looking for.

I did find my wifi password so I am through the setup process. I am still struggling with all the settings. May have more questions later. Thanks!

According to Samsung the instructions for viewing the battery level of the solar remote is as follows:

Press the Home button to check the menu.



2 Click on Settings then go to All Settings.




3 Choose General & Privacy.




4 Scroll to Power and Energy Saving.




5 Finally choose Available Remote Battery.

There is no such option on my tv. The remote is really picky about where you point it. I have to aim mine slightly downward for it to work. Really dumb that they don't supply you with the USB C cable to charge the remote. They give you a useless audio adapter but no USB C cable.

Next question. My old Samsung was a 120Hz model. I'm almost positive it was playing at 120Hz all the time. I remember seeing this when switching inputs as it would display this information at the top of the screen. That tv was only 1080p so able to do 120Hz with my regular HDMI cables. I know I need to get upgraded HDMI cables to do 4K at 120Hz. From what I am reading this only comes into play in gaming mode or maybe a blu ray that is at 24 FPS? I watched a few minutes of Avatar way of the water and there was a fast paced scene that was really blurry. If I am not gaming or watching blu ray on this tv will the better HDMI cables make any difference?

Indeed, page 10 says there is supposed to be a WPS option. There definitely was not when I was setting up. My tv seems to be missing some options that are supposed to be there. That ticks me off.

you could try updating your TV firmware...just checked mine and WPS is there at bottom of listed wireless networks
you could contact samsung support if they messed it up

Are you able to determine if the full screen is being shown?

If the actual image is larger than the current screen setting then part of the image(s) may be being cut off.

Overscan perhaps

There could be a WPS button (or other options) that are not being shown.

Look for screen fit or scan settings.

I went to my Dish guide and it looked normal. When I went to Samsung's picture of setting up wifi it was blurred but you can see there is no option on that screenshot for WPS.

It did an update right after I connected to wifi. I am finding the instructions on certain things aren't applicable to my tv. Same with the issue about not being able to see the battery level of the solar remote. Specific instructions from Samsung and the same from Youtube videos and I don't have that option.

I've just discovered 2 things. You have to pair the remote in order for the battery level option to appear. I would have figured the remote was paired already since it was letting me use it. ?? Then I realized the volume and channel buttons are paddle buttons. I would love to find a "10 things I wish I knew about my tv" article somewhere. I wonder if there are any Samsung tv forums? I've spent all afternoon going through menus and researching things on Google. Next task is to figure out what the 0 to 10 and 4 color buttons are for. I am guessing direct access to certain menus.

Look on the back of the TV for specific make, model, version, and even serial number information.

Unfortunately, there are many "look-alike" sites that try give the impression that they are Samsung or somehow Samsung related.

Just because "Samsung" is shown in the URL that does not mean that the website is actually Samsung.

Start with the following website if in the US:

Then work through Support > Product Support options as applicable.

The internet connection is needed to get firmware updates.
I had a dickens of a time trying to figure out how to enter a password containing upper and lower characters as well as special symbols.
An ethernet cable should get you connected easily.
You can also buy a samsung remote with a bunch of keys that will be easier to use.
120hz on a tv is important to eliminating motion blurring.
To get 120hz @4k, you need HDMI2.1 source and an ultra high HDMI cable.

My HDMI and optical audio cables are old so I ordered new ones and installed them today. I got the HDMI cables that are rated for 8K and can provide 4K at 120Hz. My old tv used to have a notification on the screen that reported Hz. So far I have not seen that on this tv. If I pause a show it will tell me UHD/HDR but not Hz. I am going to watch the Zack Snyder version of Justice League tonight. It is at 24FPS so maybe that will play at 120Hz. I am also going to try watching it in Filmmaker mode. Interestingly enough, today I am able to point the remote anywhere as opposed to yesterday I had to point it directly at the sensor under the tv and aim it slightly downward. Remote has the same level of charge both days so no idea what that is all about.

it wasnt paired, so it was relying on infra, which needs to be pointed on IR sensor, but since its paired now, it switched to bluetooth, so you can point it anywhere

it should be able to autopair itself, but sometimes for whatever reason it wants to repair again
pairing is done with back + play buttons pressed together, until tv shows animation with tv to remote pairing alongside with battery level

What picture mode are you using? I feel like movie mode is reducing the color substantially. I am not interested in dynamic or eco modes. Standard seems to look the best to me. I only watch at night in a dimly lit room. I have set standard to custom so I can move all the sliders.
