Building a new computer for the first time, never ran through BIOS or anything, so i have no idea how starting out goes, except inserting your OS disk. So i was gonna go with Vista 64-bit, since im getting 6 GB of memory, i "thought" i'd get Windows 7, so i need to know some things about it...

Can i play games just as well as vista?

It says that windows 7 RC wont be available for DL on august 20th, does that mean i'd have to buy a CD?

Do i have to buy vista or windows for first boot up, or can i buy a windows 7 RC disk and use that as my OS?

If you wait for Windows 7 to actually come out (2-3 months I think) it will perform better than Vista, and has full XP compatibility if needed. Windows 7 RC won't last forever, it will expire next year (March I think) so you will need to pay for one either way. If you get Vista x64 now you will get a free upgrade to Windows 7 64 when it comes out, at least that's the last I heard.

As for startup, you go in to the BIOS and find a "Boot Order" option (shouldn't be too hard to find) and put it like CD ROM->HDD-> Disabled (or anything else you want in the order), so it will ask you to press a button to boot from CD and you tell it to do that with the Vista/Windows disk in the drive and it will run it and begin installing it.
