Hey everyone!
I want to buy my nephew (8 y/o) a budget gaming pc and i have no idea how to start.
Im upgrading right now my own pc for the upcoming cyberpunk - but i know more or less what parts i need...
But nothing about what might be good for a kid.
Also i dont know if i should take into consideration the 10th gen cpu and go for some budget build with 490 motherboard or stick to 9 gen and go for 390 motherboard.
About graphic card - something like 1660 maybe?
Im stuck @,@ please help me

1660/1660 Super is a great 1080P card....(you can compare price/performance to RX5500 and RX5600/5600XT, or on the lower end, a 1650Ti)

I'd look for a good B550 board and an R5-3600X, and, if known to be waiting 2 months, AMD's next gen desktop CPUs should be out and reviewed within a month or two... (As this is a child's gaming PC, I'll assume there is no need for outrageously expensive CPUs like a 10700K/10900K or GPUs like the 2080 SUper/3080, etc., for 1440P/144 Hz refresh in BF5, etc...

Honestly, for an 8 year old, I'd probably be looking at an AMD APU. If the child doesn't take to PC gaming/use, then it's not that large of a financial hit.

I'd probably start with a Ryzen 5 3400G and 8GB of RAM. Install Win10 onto an SSD and call it a day. Unless you know for sure that the kid is going to be a hard-core gamer, the above suggestion would be more than enough.
