Hi, I need help building a gaming pc for my friend. He wants something good enough to play current games with good fps but doesn't want to spend more than $800. The only things he told me he wanted was a i7 cpu and a gtx 780 but I told him thats probably already around $800 just for the cpu and gpu but I'm not really sure because I don't really know alot about parts. Any help would be appreciated.

what exactly does he need and already have? just the tower and innards, or tower/monitor/speakers/keyboard/mouse/OS? even needing a copy of win 7/8.1 can take around $100 USD off the parts budget

Thanks for the reply I'll show it to him and see what he thinks. I'm sure he wont mind going a little bit over $800

if your friend can sit on his money for a bit. not only is intel dropping latter this year haswell refresh (look like end of year if they get the yield up). also nvidia is dropping latter this year there 800 line of gpu (maxwell). when they do the older cards may take a price drop.
