Approximate Purchase Date: Before the end of January 2016

Budget: $2000. I'm willing to go a little higher if it's worth it

System Usage from Most to Least Important: My main usage is editing photos in Photoshop, Lightroom, Capture One Pro. Then video editing (possible 4K video editing in future) using Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro. I also plan on getting into 3D some modeling/rendering to augment my photography

Are you buying a monitor: Yes. I am interested in a widescreen (around 27") IPS LED monitor which can easily be color caliberated to help my photo editing accuracy.

Do you need to buy OS: Yes. Sticking with Windows 7 Professional SP1 64bit. I have no interest in Windows 10 dos the layout confuses me a lot.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: No preference. Just want the best deals

Location: Chicago, IL USA. Not that it matters.

Parts Preferences: For processor, I'm sticking with Intel only. For graphics card, I'm sticking with nvidia or something that will work best for my needs

Overclocking: Yes as long as the process isn't too complicated. This is my first build.

SLI or Crossfire: Yes. My intention is to buy a sli capable motherboard but only buy one graphics card at this time and overtime I'll add another graphics card to the motherboard. I don't want to have to do another build if I am interested in SLI in the future.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: Ive had a Sony Vaio dual core 32bit laptop for the past 8 years and it has served me well. It's no longer keeping up with photoshop or any of the other Adobe suite softwares. I feel ill just retain that laptop as a web browsing/internet downloading laptop

Here is what I have decided on so far. If you have better options or solutions, please don't hesitate. I'm open. I just didn't want you guys to do all the heavy lifting.

Processor
  Intel Core i7-5820K Haswell-E 6-Core 3.3GHz LGA 2011-v3 140W Desktop Processor

SSD for softwares

SanDisk Ultra II 960GB SATA III 2.5-Inch 7mm Height Solid State Drive

Motherboard

MSI Computer LGA2011 Express/EATX Motherboard X99S GAMING 9 ACK

Memory
  Corsair Vengeance 32GB

Windows 7 Professional SP1 64bit

The other components, I'm not picky about. I just need help with them to stay in budget. Any advice on my motherboard decision is also welcome. Remember, I'm new to this.

Thanks

Solution
If monitor is included in the budget, then I would step down some on the processor, so you still can have a decent GPU. Wanted to go quadro, but the SLI capable ones are pricey.

Solution
Thanks so much for your answers guys. I'm new to this site. I didn't mean to choose Screwsqrl's response as the solution but I can't seem to undo it.

Logainofhades, thanks so much for the details. I'll surely keep that in mind. I wanted to go quadro too but when sli is involved, the price jumps. That's why I stuck with the gtx 980

I hope I can still get some great deals on some of these items since cyber Monday sales seem to be over on most sites. Still waiting to see if anyone else has any input on my build. Thanks guys
