I am planning to build a new computer in the next few months. Unfortunatly, I haven't kept up with the new advancements and had to do a lot of reading. I want to make it very quiet but want it to have a lot of bang for my buck. I have a rough list of what I want and would like to get some feedback on my brain child.
I was thinking...

Case: Lian Li PC60 Plus or PC60A Plus (don't know what the difference is)
MSI k8n Neo4 F
Athlon 64 3000+ 939
Elan Vital Greenerger SSM 420W PSU (if i can find it)
Gigabite GV-NX66T128VP Video card
Kingston KHX3200ULK2/1G Ram
Sound card?

What do you think?

Personally i would not spend so much on a case but thats just me, the lian li are very good if not the best you can buy but it will cost you. If you can get a faster cpu maybe a 3500+ I would suggest the audigy 2 for sound go to newegg and get an audigy 2 oem. Do not get the audigy 2 value it is not as good, the audigy 2 oem is better and i believe cheaper. That video card is that the 6600 fanless version, good card if it is. Everything else sounds good.

yes, the 6600 card is the fanless one. Thanks for the sound card recomendation. The only thing I am really worried about is the fact that i may not be able to find a vender for that powersupply. If I can't, then i will have to find another one. Any suggestions? It needs to be quiet and over 400W for less than $150.

I am probably going to need to get a different power supply. The Elan Vital is impossible to find. I have been doing more looking and I would like know what everyone thinks about the Seasonic S12-430. I haven't seen anything about the Seasonic's on any of the boards. Any input? I'm thinking that one, or the Enermax Noisetaker Series 470W.

You want quiet? Thick steel cases are quieter than thick aluminum cases, thin steel cases are quieter than thin aluminum cases. For equal thickness, steel is quieter.

That's true. I hadn't taken that into consideration. The reason that I decided to go with aluminum, is for its heat dispersion capabilities. Weight was also a factor.

Heat dispersion isn't a major factor because even quiet fans move enough air, if large. But the increased mass of a steel case could weigh heavily on your mind.

If you want a quiet case... I have a Nexus Breeze, its very heavy now with everything in it, but its very quiet.

This is the only OEM Audigy 2 that i could find on newegg.com. Is this the one you were talking about?

True, but it is unneccessary to upgrade a case in all but the most extreme upgrades. I am planning to have this case last for 10yrs or more. I figured i might as well get one that i really enjoy.

Er, to start off with, I highly recommend you DO NOT get an OEM Audigy 2. I have an OEM Audigy 2 from Dell and it does NOT decode AC3. I don't know if the one suggested can do it or not, but I honest to god would NOT trust any OEM manufacturers as you simply do not know what they have watered down on their card. For best results, go with the retail versions. I know they cost a little more, but at least you know what you are getting.

As for the video card, if you're going to be playing games on your system, I would highly recommend you pony up the money and get the 6600 GT version of the card. It doesn't cost considerably more, but you'll get considerably more performance out of the GT. If, however, you're not going to be playing games, then I would suggest either the geForce 6200 "vanilla" or the Radeon X300 "vanilla" (try not to get the SE, as it's not worth the money).

What about Ultra's 500w modular PS. It's around $100. Quiet, and produces enough power.

ASUS A8V DELUXE K8T800 PRO
AMD ATHLON 64 +3200 (939)
(2)1 GB CORSAIR RAM PC3200 400 MHZ
BFG 6800 GEFORCE ULTRA OC (AGP)
(2) WD 74GB RAPTORS (SATA)
(1) WD 120GB (IDE)

I haven't heard anything about Ultra PSUs. I'm trying to stick to a tried and tested Psu that will fit my needs. Quiet, stable and >400W.
