Decided I'd come ask the gods?

I don't entirely want to play PC games, just need a computer to stream games due to my current Macbook Pro, slowing down and freezing up when trying to run El Gato on it. Went to best buy yesterday, some random dude told me to buy a gaming laptop, but i don't know if he knew what we was talking about.

Do I need to buy a $700 gaming laptop to just STREAM video games? I took some photos of some desktops and the gaming laptop. What exactly do I need to be powerful from a PC to just stream games?

If your macbook has a semi recent intel CPU than it has an integrated GPU powerful enough to do the streaming,if you have a dedicated card than even better.
In your place I would have a look around some mac forums or the OBS (most popular streaming tool)forum to get tips on how to make hardware accelerated encoding with quicksync or nvenc work on mac os,they might work under wine or there might even be native solutions ,I don't know if there are enough people in this forum that know enough about macs to give you the help you need.

Also there are elgato versions that rely on the CPU for the work, that's probably what you got,and there are versions that have an hardware encoder, those won't bother your CPU at all.

I’m trying to get a windows computer.

When you say stream games, you mean as a dedicated second system running from a capture card off some other gaming computer? As long as you have a modern system past mid-range you will be OK. Say a Ryzen 5 laptop with the onboard graphics. Will be plenty.
