Question Need help!! Can’t figure out why I am out of storage!

Laptop is
Asus ROG Strix 17.3” Laptop (Intel Core i7-9750H/ 16GB/ 1TB HDD/ Win 10)

When I look at my storage, it looks like I only have 300 GB of space. It’s supposed to have one TBHDD and I cannot find out why I can’t do any updates or download anything. Can anybody help me to see what I’m doing wrong?

300GB is tons of space for updates and downloads.

Sounds like your OS is likely on a smaller partition that is now full.

my disc management says a lot of space is free. Not sure how to use all my space since my games keep saying no space

A 128GB SSD, the C drive. Disk 1.
And a 1TB other drive, completely unused. Disk 0.


You need to move some data OFF that C drive, and onto the D.
What do you use this system for?
What do you have installed?

It’s my sons laptop. He mainly uses it for a game called Planet Zoo. He said he can’t do updates or play because he is out of space. Which he is not. Can you help? Thanks

He is out of space on the C drive, where the OS lives.
Operation and updates WILL be impacted.

What else is on this system?
I'm guessing some videos, pics, etc....

Very minimal other stuff. We cleaned off a lot. No pics

How much free space is there now on the C drive?

If sufficient, this:
Install and run either WinDirStat, or WizTree.

Run as Administrator, selecting only the drive in question.
Post a screencap here.

We need to determine exactly what is consuming that C drive space.
His game, Planet Zoo, doesn't seem to consume a lot.

So, something else is.

Those linked applications might give us an inkling as to what that is.
The will give a graphical illustration of what is taking up that space.

From there, some anomaly may emerge.
