[SOLVED] Need help choosing a case that focuses mainly on absolute silence, without compromising temperatures that much ?

So I was thinking about the be quiet! dark base 700, but after watching some youtube videos, I realized its temperatures aren't that great. My question is what can I do to improve the temperatures more? The front panel has only one fan. Should I get another one to improve the cooling dynamics? I will be getting the be quiet dark rock pro 4 for the cpu. Again is this a good choice or should I try something with water cooling? Silence is absolutely important for me as I have sold my macbook pro 2018 that was super loud and annoying when gaming on bootcamp. While idling I want it to be super quiet. I would appreciate the help and other recommendations from more experienced users, as I am just a beginner in this world.
P.S. this pc build will be only for gaming.

Solution
If you want a silent case you will need to live with higher temps. Silent = less holes for sound to get out or more restrictive things like foam to keep the noise in, those things also restrict air flow. Gaming, heat = need for good ventilation and fans = noise. A good desktop case with good quality fans will be quieter than a macbook which is not designed for gaming at all. Adding fans is a good idea, two front fans are pretty standard, many case vendors include one to keep cost down.

Actually I was just about to ask this very same question, although without the heat part, as I knew it would increase heat. I suppose I would have said, without adding enough heat to have a noticeably adverse affect on the system.

This is not meant as a thread hijack BTW, merely a very similar question that may have the same answer.

For me, I really was considering going all "bling" with the whole Corsair lights and all that, but then I realized 3 important things.

1. My case is under my desk in an open compartment that's like a rectangular tunnel that goes right through my desk from front to back. No doors! So, would I even see most of the bling? No.

2. Not only is bling a lot more expensive, I'm guessing that after a few weeks, the novelty would wear off, and I may even find it annoying.

3. Bling means a case that shows bling, which means higher noise. While I do game, sometimes, my time is mostly spent doing work these days (unfortunately) so bling would probably be a nuisance at best and a distraction at worst.

I'm looking at likely building an AMD computer this time around, and likely going with a full ATX board, as I've cursed my current/previous micro-ATX purchase decision many times over due to the lack of expansion capabilities.

My current case is a Fractal Design, but it isn't for a full or mid ATX board, so I wasn't sure what was a good case these days that offers good airflow, and good sound dampening for air cooling?

I'll very likely be getting Noctura fans unless someone has beaten them in the "silent but great" sector.

I hope any help you can provide will also help Michael (the OP) but if he says it won't I will happily delete this and make a new thread.

Thanks,

DM

I don't know if it's a misconception or what, but for the sound dampening to be of any real benefit, you have to be sensitive - perhaps clinically so - to certain frequencies(kHz), not noise level(dBA).
They aren't the same, and I think people have them mixed up.

You can have several 800rpm, 12dBA, Noiseblocker fans and still 'can't stand the sound of them', because the frequency of the fan motor annoys you like no other.
That's where the dampening comes in handy, otherwise it's a gimmick.

Some people can't stand the 'hum' of Noctua fans - I have only Noctua fans in my chassis, and I'm like, "What 'hum' are they talking about?"

Phanteks P600S with BeQuiet Silent Wing 3 fans (Or any silent fans you buy). Dampening material on the side panel on cable magement side. Top and front removable panel for sound dampening or more airflow. Tempered tinted glass panel that is sound dampened too. Very good case with lots of space for cable management. Magnets on both side panels. USB TYPE-C on front panel.

Comes in Black, Silver or White.

How close do you sit next to your pc ?
Also what are your components ? The rest of your system will determine the case, how hot it gets, clearance and such. Also will one perceive difference between 35 db, 38 db or 40 db ? Maybe.

My case is just off the floor on the bottom most part of the desk, and only about a foot away.

Also, as someone who gets frequent migraines, I am more sensitive to sound then most people. I wouldn't say that I've heard any annoying "hum" or such with Noctura fans, or most good fans in general. I just hear the normal sound of them moving at whatever speed they're running at, and of course, the added sound of the air movement.

It's not really about it being an irritant, as much as it's about just wanted a quieter environment. Unless a fan is running full tilt and sound like a jet taking off, I, like most people, do become accustom to the sound of most good fans running at mid speed and then my mind eventually just filters it out as white noise.

Apparently, despite my "advanced years" (44 lol) my migraines kept me away from most things that damage a young persons hearing, such as loud nightclubs. This has led me to have much better hearing then most people in their 40's. It's actually quite amusing at times, as I'll hear things people will say when they think I'm far enough away to not hear them. lol :)

Thanks for taking the time to read all of that and reply. I appreciate it!

Hopefully, it also helps the original poster as well.

Thanks I'll check those out! I also wasn't aware that there were side windows that had added sound dampening qualities above and beyond what a "normal" side window in a cheaper case would have. That's very good to know!

As I like to say, "You can't know what you don't know, because you don't know it." :)

I appreciate you taking the time to gather all of that up for me!
