Greetings.

After reading lots of different articles and forum posts about 'how to choose a monitor' I still need an advice about what choice to make.

I'm looking to buy a good monitor for games (MOBA, MMORPG, RTS mostly), movies (for watching on standard HD 1080p without 3D) and anime (if that matters at all) at the price of around 240$. The important part for me is to choose a monitor which will scale well into the future: so I'm looking for a relatively new model.

My current monitor is an old LG L1942SE (19", 1280x1024 75Hz) and I'm not sure which type of monitor matrix should I get: IPS with ~60Hz or TN with 120Hz (I've never seen the difference IRL).

Is there a point of trying to get a monitor higher than 1920x1080 for possible changes in standard resolution of games/movies in the future? And I think the screen size should be around 24"/27".

Also, I don't know if this will affect the choice but I'm using AMD Radeon HD 7800 with i5 3570.

I have no preferred brands and I've found some options already:

BenQ GW2750HM

Viewsonic VX2452mh

IIYAMA ProLite E2483HS-B1

Acer Predator GN246HL

AOC i2369Vm

But feel free to suggest anything you want.

Thank you for your time. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

For gaming a 120Hz monitor would be best, however the new IPS/PLS panels now days are excellent choices for gaming also.

This AOC is one of my favourite IPS panels available -

Gaming 120Hz is noticeably better if your achieving high FPS in-game, if your not it won't benefit much. For a 120hz monitor this would be it - (144Hz, excellent price)

Thanks a lot for the answers! I was thinking a lot and eventually I've bought the Asus VS247 H-P and in my opinion it's just amazing.

By the way, there are a lot of modes and I'm not really sure what to choose. Can you suggest something from your experience? Is the 'Standard' good enough?

Nice choice on the monitor, it has great reviews of 4000. But I can't really answer that question since I have never bought that monitor, I just suggested it because from my experience from monitor threads, these two are very popular from what I have read, so I'm just passing on information. I use my TV as my monitor, I chose Vivid for my TV but I customized it to my likings. So maybe you can do that if you want to :)
