Current build so far.
I already have the RAM and the GPU which I'll be recycling from my current PC.

I'd like a motherboard to fit the 4790k (Asus z97-a is unfortunately not a choice due to cost) and a case that looks decent but the main priority is good airflow (I have Corsair's 200R but I feel like it's an eyesore). A Corsairs Graphite series case is my main consideration but I'm not sure whether to focus my budget more on the motherboard.

What motherboard features are nonnegotiable to you? Do you need SLI, extra DIMM slots, RAID, etc.? I'm thinking in terms of future expansion. Or, are you only concerned with finding a board that can host your current parts alone? Also, do you want to overclock? If you want a K-series CPU, I recommend a Z-series motherboard even if you don't want to OC right now. One last question: what is your budget for these parts?

I've got £150 for both. I am planning to overclock in the future so the capability should be there. I don't plan to have SLI but I'll probably upgrade to a 980ti in the future. Only two sticks of RAM so no extra DIMM needed, (4 slots max if anything) and I'm not completely sure what raid is but from what a friend tells me I don't think I need it.

The NZXT S340, which is at the same price point, is a second option I recommend looking into. Both companies make good cases, and you'd be good with either as suited to your needs. Sometimes, sales/rebates put it down to $60.
