Stop making multiple threads for the same issue
So I just got an rtx 2070 oc, and I'm trying to build a pc over a ryzen 7 2700x. But I'm not too sure what mbo to get, I'm currently using the b350 gaming. And I need about the same amout of usb ports, I have an average sized pc case. Currently my psu is a Tx650M. What would be a good mbo for running something like that?

You can use it, it just needs to have a BIOS update that was released after the Ryzen 2700X was released to be compatible with the 2700X.
what processor would you suggest i get? i just saw the 3700x and im considering that. saw the difference in numbers and for a bit over 100 dollars extra it seems kinda worth it for the long run. would i still be able to run that on the mbo?

im lost on deciding what motherboard to get for my new build coming up and im hoping you can all help me out with what i currently have inside and help me find something a bit more modern.

im running on about 650M psu. i use a pretty good amount of usb cables, keyboard/headset/mousepad/speakers/headset wireless cable/microphone/webcam. the mbo im using right now has about 6 usb ports plus the 2 on the case.

internally, i have 2 hard drives, 1 ssd, i have an elgato installed inside, the gpu, i use an ethernet cable so wifi isnt needed,

so what im planning on going for is:

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/KMK3V6 // so far i have gpu/cpu/mbo/psu/

what i bought already: gpu

what i need so far is a ram, a monitor, a cooler(i would do watercooled but im a little bitch to install it lol so normal cooler would be ok), some new hard drives/ssd would be nice(i have a samsung ssd that has about 120 but that was back then when they were expensive af. heard theyre cheaper now especially 1tb or 2tb ones so if you know anything about that feel free to hook me up with a recommended one!!),

no case/optical needed.

if you have any tweaks or suggestions on what i should switch i would be really appreciative :) please help me complete my new build!!

as long as I can run games at about 2k, have a 144hz monitor and run the upcoming games like cyber, call of duty on good quality I'm ok aha. Sometimes like 4k,3k might be too much for me but since I have the gpu, and that's already about 500 and the build is 1100, making that 900, I'd say maybe I have about 1500 to spend but preferably less by 2020.

While the 3700X is a good chip, if this is mainly a gaming machine there's a lot of benchmarks showing that the 3600/3600X performs basically the same for games.

I would consider buying a X570 board over a X470 or saving money and buying a B450 one. With both he 470 and 450 you aren't guaranteed to get a compatible BIOS unless it specifically states it as 3000 series ready.

RAM: just buy 3200mhz or faster as Ryzen continues to show benefit from fast RAM

Cooler: Im partial to Noctua such as the beast NH D15 or if you want something less beige and brown the be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 is excellent.

alright so youve been on the same boat as a few other people, i have decided on a corsair vengence 3200 ram, the noctua for overclocking, and the gigabyte x570

this is the new updated settings now: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/leonelfreak/saved/K3JRkL any suggestions? ill consider the 3600 vs the x for now. but their is an issue saying that for the cooler i might need a seperate mounting :( im not too sure what that means or how hard itll be to buy that.

Yeah I think you have to get this https://noctua.at/en/nm-am4-mounting-kit which is free but I think the AM4 bracket is included now although I'm not sure.

You could get be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 or the slightly cheaper and smaller Dark Rock 4 which I believe both come with the AM4 mounting hardware.

You may really want to consider buying the 2070 Super though, as its anywhere between 10 and 20% more powerful over a standard 2070 and even at 470 I think spending the extra 30 bucks would be worth it IMO.

sadly i already bought the 2070 :( but it is an oc edition. plus the extra 150~ dollars to upgrade at the time wasnt that worth it for me financially wise.

so this is my build so far: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/f3tKCb

im just a bit cautious on locking down on a motherboard and case because i want to make sure i have enough usb drives/sata/case usbs, etc and space for all my parts to fit inside it. so im going to rundown everything i use and hopefully you can somewhat help me closedown my build for sure and i can finally get started to building it!!

so for usb: mouse, mousepad, keyboard, mic, wireless headset plug, speakers, webcam, and preferably another 1/2 just to plug stuff in like a phone etc if i want to trasfer data. so a total of 9 usb will be needed on both the case/motherboard more is ok as well.

im planning on using possibly 2 drives, a samsung sata for my windows and other things i want opened at startup, im getting an m2 solid state, and i have a hard drive but im not too sure if im going to keep it since ive never gone above 1tb so i might just stick with the 120gb samsung and 1tb crucial m2.

the only other internal parts in my computer im currently using is an elgato hd60pro and my 2070

Only two changes I see. First you really don't need a separate cooler unless you plan on overclocking, which seems to be kinda pointless on the 3000 Ryzens. Second I would consider either spending more money on a GTX 2070 SUPER, or saving money and getting the RX 5700XT.

You don't have a mobo listed, so keep in mind unless you get a X570 motherboard you may need to update the BIOS for the CPU to work. Some motherboards support the BIOS update without a CPU installed https://premiumbuilds.com/motherboards/list-of-motherboards-with-usb-bios-flashback/ while others will require you to send away for an update kit from AMD https://www.extremetech.com/computi...pgrade-kit-for-ryzen-3000-motherboard-updates

so i had already previously bought the 2070. so im hardstuck on that. i was planning on overclocking but i wasnt sure if i would see any difference so i will remove the cooler. and i actually was planning on getting a x570 just not sure what model

so for some reason my ------ self thought it would be cool to get a gigabyte x570 aorus pro..to be honest i dont think ill ever get to that type of usage on pcie4(plus im still trying to learn about it and i heard, if you dont know if you need pcie4 or not then you probably dont need it) and that many m.2. i just need a bit of help trying to decide what motherboard to get for my build.

https://pcpartpicker.com/user/leonelfreak/saved/K3JRkL this is the build im going for. i have everything besides the memory, motherboard, and storage. i also dont know if going for crucial for my m.2 is a good idea(i havent heard much about them and was considering going for one of the bigger brands just to be safe).

Well you can consider B450 chipset (or X470 if you want to go higher end) such as:

PCPartPicker Part List

Motherboard: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard ($114.89 @ OutletPC)

Just remember this will need to have latest BIOS to run the 3rd Gen Intel (The MAX model B450 by MSI do not need a BIOS update, and this MSI Tomahawk has a CPU-less BIOS update feature)

Or you could stick to a more budget friendly X570 that will be the newest chipset with PCIe Gen 4 and your 2x M2 slots that is IMO excellent value for money:
PCPartPicker Part List

Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 GAMING X ATX AM4 Motherboard ($163.99 @ Amazon)

I stuck to X570 being as I did in fact want the PCIe Gen 4 and I opted for the ASUS TUF X570 Plus (but close second was the GB X570 Gaming X above).

if going for crucial for my m.2 is a good idea(i havent heard much about them and was considering going for one of the bigger brands just to be safe).
Crucial are an excellent manufacturer. One of the biggest players in the storage and memory game. Nothing wrong with them. Samsungs are renowned for being the "highest quality" but Crucial are excellent non-the-less.

Here's how to update the BIOS without the CPU.

Also your missing a Case.
