[SOLVED] Need help choosing a new cpu for a dying and sluggish PC.

Hello ya'll.

It's been a long while since I've touched my computer. My current PC has a really outdated CPU (AM3+) with and AM3 motherboard and 8gb of DDR3 ram... I recently got myself a new GPU (GTX 1070) and haven't done anything to it yet.

I have a budget of $500 to upgrade the CPU, the motherboard, and ram. I've dug into to a bit of CPU research and thought of getting an i7-8700K or an i5 8600k since I was planning to switch to Intel. However, AMD's Ryzen 7 2700x caught my eye as well. The amount of positivity revolving it was overwhelming. Now, I'm in between choosing multiple and it's stressing me out. I have watched videos about them but just don't help. I'm asking, which one would be good with the GPU? Which one is good for my budget? Which is the best overall?

Both would be excellent with that GPU. Ryzen more often than not is better value/performance. The intel will get absolute best FPS in gaming.

my suggestion. 60 bucks more for maybe 10-12% boost. almost 20% more money for only 10% work
2700x too expensive with the 2700 at that price, and the price of a heatsink. the 2700 is the deal to get.

I have found out that Intel's i5 8600k is going for a cheaper price and has higher frame rate than AMD's Ryzen 2700x, however, the Ryzen uses low CPU. This just makes it difficult to choose. Will the Ryzen 2700x outperform Intel's i5 in the future?

Also, I have an H100i cooler and have purchased the memory given by R_1. Now it's just the motherboard and CPU.
