Looking for a new laptop for a friend who lives in Canada so prices need to be in CAD. Budget is around $800 CAD (don't actually know). It will be mostly to go on sites like their work app that they have to do training for and find it hard to see everything on their phone. As well as e-mails, games, some video watching, nothing too major. When they say games they don't mean like pc gaming. They mean like facebook games or whatever nothing crazy. Probably don't even need a gpu. iGpu is probably fine I assume. I've checked Staples/Best Buy and some other sites but nothing really seems to jump out at me. I've wondered about a Lenovo as they are pretty cheap.

They also specified they wanted a bigger screen so a 17" and a quick google people are saying 1920x1080 is better than 1600x900 so I guess go with 1080.

Thanks.

You could look at this unit ASUS VivoBook M712UA though we tend to have users fill out a form like this so we're able to narrow down what the end user could benefit from. Mentioning the app's that your friend will be taxing the laptop with would help us two fold.
Thanks for the reply and thanks for sharing your links. I think what you linked was great only thing was it wasn't 1920x1080. Do you know if it's a big difference vs a 1600x900 res. screen?
