Question Need help choosing between two PcPartPicker lists for younger family member

Hello!

Trying to help a younger family member get PC parts. He’s young and saved up money for a while to try and build his first PC, but after reviewing his original list, I realized the parts he picked were older/probably not the best options.

The problem is, beyond recognizing specific part names, I’m not very experienced with this. I’ve been doing some research today and got help from others, and as a result, I have two lists here. Not sure which one would be better / if there are any issues with these lists.

His goal is to play games and the budget is $800-1000 (closer to the $800 would be ideal honestly) so not too much to work with, but thinking we can definitely get at least something good enough for him with that amount.

In the even that these two lists are not good/have issues, totally willing for replacement suggestions or a whole new list in general haha

Before I answer — I just realized “List 2” was the incorrect list, it was his original list that needing adjusting because I think the parts were old/outdated. I updated List 2 to reflect the actual second list I have.

As far as Windows license, if there’s any way to amend the lists to add it and keep it within the same budget, then that would work, but if not, I wouldn’t mind working on getting the license separately and have his money go all towards the parts!

Also, this is a perfect time for some instruction on PC building.
You and him build it together.

I did this a few years ago with my then 11 year old grandson.
He did 95% of it.

That first press of the power button, and his smile...priceless.
