Need help choosing cpu for new setup

i have ordered the z68 fata1ity professional board. was originally going to get the i5-3550 but thinking about getting the i5-2500k now. any thoughts on this? should i stick with the ivy cpu or get the unlocked 2500k? I usually dont worry to much about overclocking. but may later.

also, if i already get usb 3.0 and pci 3.0 with this board, what is so great about the native equivalents on the z77? i dont understand the advantage?

mainly though, these 2 cpus are the same price, one is 2nd gen and other is 3rd, which to choose?

Personally I would go for the 2500k since I could overclock it later on.

As for Z77 and Z68, a lot of the things are the same, but there are some differences in the features (newer technology). For example, VirtuMVP for Z77 is a newer, better version of LucidVirtu on Z68.

There's more but I can't list them off the top of my head :lol: but since you already have a Z68 board, I wouldn't worry too much unless you REALLY need the features of Z77

from what i understand, the 2500k does not have a onboard video so the virtu MVP makes no difference, correct? also, i cannot decide between a geforce 560 ti, radeon 6950, or radeon 6870? need to stay under 200 for the video though. always gone with nvidia, but from what i understand, i may get more out of them radeons for now. i've been researching so much over the weekend (ordering everything tommorrow), that my brain is fried and decided to just post on here

The 2500K DOES have an iGPU (HD 3000), but for Virtu purposes, VirtuMVP is supposed to allow for smoother VSync gaming.
