Hi guys!

So basically, I've decided to upgrade my system, and I'm buying a GTX 980, and will upgrade this to SLI later this year. I need to buy 3 new monitors too and in a previous post, came to the conclusion that I should get 1x 1440p and 2x 1080p with the help of the TH community. I decided this because I will be playing high end games and also streaming, and I don't think 4k is that viable at the moment as no GPU's have been specifically designed for it, correct me if I'm wrong.

So I have decided that for the 1440p display I'm either going to buy a Viewsonic VP2770 or an Asus PB278Q. Please don't let price be an issue, I really want to get this setup right.

I am stuck with the 1080p monitors though. Surround gaming wouldn't really be viable because they are different resolutions and likely won't have the same specs in any way shape or form, so I think it will literally be just for managing my stream and possibly using one to host a console on if I switch whilst streaming kind of thing.

I've been looking at some monitors and I've seen monitors like Dell P2714H, Benq XL2720z, Asus MX279H etc. But I am undecided. And to be honest when I reach the specs, for some reason I am letting that dictate the outcome when really, if it has good response times and moderate colour reproduction all that should matter is it's cosmetic look because it won't be used for THAT much.

I don't know if that makes any sense, but for those who understand what I'm getting at, please help me choose between the 2x 1440p displays and choose between/suggest a new 1080p display.

Or, if you think with 2x980SLI I should go for something different, I don't know >_< please help you wonderful people! :)

Hello mate.

What you really should consider in the monitors is the amount of HZ you can get out of those. I was blown away of the difference between 75hz and 144hz. As a gamer I know that BenQ and Eizo have the best gaming monitors out there currently. I have BenQ xl2411z and I've been very happy with it. Just by a quick looking around, I couldn't find a 1440p 144hz monitor. I'm really a newbie when it comes to monitors over 1080p.

If you want to go with most likely the best 1080p gaming monitor there is, it is called Eizo Foris FG-2421. It has a turbo mode so you can boost the monitor hz up to 240. This one really needs sick performance from your computer (980SLI) for example. When I was buying my monitor, I ruled that one out...

After comparing different monitors I decided to get my BenQ xl2411z. BenQ also has XL2420Z, which is performance-wise pretty much the same as mine.

Just throwing it out there! Hope you can decide which monitors to get!

Yeah that's a good point mate. So I've been looking at the VG278HE, and it's 144hz 1080p TN and a well rated monitor (Linus tech tips), so I'm thinking of buying 2 of them to use now, and then get this bad boy later this year:

144hz IPS 2ms response time, 1440p and best of all, G-Sync!!!!!!!!

It's like the ROG Swift but better! And not that much more expensive!

I'm thinking 2x980s and these monitors will provide a lovely setup. When I buy the 1440p display the 2x1080p 144hz panels will be lovely for desktop real estate, and the high refresh rate will be lovely for for general usage!
