Need Help Choosing Heatsink

hi!
the stock heatsink fan with my amd opteron 175 dual core is extremely noisy so i decided to replace the entire heatsink.
these are a few heatsinks i have decided - i need help choosing the best one.it should be quiet--main criteria--i will not overclock.

coolermaster tx-3--24US $ (converted from Indian Rupees.)

i need to buy one of these tomorrow.


Since i am running low on cash , a better solution for me would be to mount a 92 mm fan instead of the stock amd fan because the amd stock cooler is really good and has a copper base as well as copper cooling pipes.is it possible to mount a bigger fan on my heatsink--the one supplied is 80mm--if so--i could go with a scythe s-flex.and if it is possible to install a larger fan -how to do it?

please help me out.

The cpu heatsinks in the charts on the right hand side of the page are the low noise heatsinks.

You can use the embedded search feature to find information about heatsinks for specific cpu sockets.

Any of those coolers would be fine if you don't plan on over clocking, ans since you are worried about noise look at the noise specs, and if you want (and budget allows) get a new fan that would fit on one of them that is quite (maybe even a PWM).

As for installing an 92mm fan in a 80mm spot, well it either has to be a special fan (that has the screws in off spots, i think thermal take used to make a 140mm fan that screwed into a 120mm spot). Or just make an adapter out of zip ties and stuff.

You could just get a nicer 80mm fan, (though the nice ones cost money)

i have seen frostytech.com -- but they review stuff--i would like recommendations from people who have actually used them--helps me to decide what to buy.

I would use this cooler. It runs fairly quiet...and it really cheap/ highly effective.

Sunny27 - You listed the Coolermaster Hyper 212 in your original post. The Hyper 212 uses 120mm fans. The stock fans that come with it are pretty good. I used it for a case mod I did last year.

I use the Scythe S-Flex series 120mm fans. I haven't used an 80mm fan since the late 1980's.

if he got an 80mm fan it would only be to replace the loud fan on his stock heatsink,

Doesn't really matter what you get, good CFM/dba ratio is a must though, if you think it might be too loud, get a cheap controller like this,

(i have some of these, pretty good, nice lights) and at this price, it's nice that it comes with a controller.

If your're going to get a heatsink get a 120mm (if it's in your budget), like the hyper 212
