Hello community,

This actually the second time i post this thread because i believe the older one was in the wrong category.

I want to build a computer soon and I need some help deciding what components i need to use. I would like to do a little overclocking on the cpu. I live in Holland and i order everything from one site, so i don't know of everything is available but i will let you know if it isn't. These are the thinks i thought where pretty good. No ssd unfortunately. That doesn't fit in my budget. It could fit if i get the AMD FX-6300, but i don't know if that is good enough.

CPU: AMD FX-8320 or FX-6300
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 760 or MSI GTX 760 (Which one is better and why?)
CPU cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo or Scythe Ninja 3 (which one is better for overclocking?)
Memory: Crucial 8 GB DDR3-1600
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 i TB
DVD-writer: LG GH24NS
Operating System: Windows 8.1
Power supply: Sharkoon WPM600 (cheap but gets good reviews)
Case: Enermax Ostrog (cheap and pretty in my opinion)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P (Will this motherboard overclock well?)
Wifi: TP-Link TL-WN951N 300M
Case fan: Aerocool Shark Fan 12cm Black edition

So that's it. Let me know what you think of it and if you have any other suggestions. It would be much appreciated if you could also answer the above questions behind some of the components. Also this is the maximum i can spend on my build.

Jules

At your budget level the FX 6300 is good option. Either of those GPUs will be fine. 990 chipset instead of 970 which should overclock better. No OS is included in the build below.

Motherboard: Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($109.99 @ NCIX US)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($69.99 @ Amazon)

Total: $747.91

EDIT: ...and most importantly, stick with Antec, Corsair, XFX or Seasonic for a PSU!

Change the PSU for an XFX 550w unit. Same price and WAY better quality. The CX units from Corsair are average at best.

Thank you for answering! So i changed the for the XFX 550 watt unit which wasn't that much more expensive and i chose the FX-6300 and the Corsair case. But that version of the crucial ram is not available in the store i buy everything. They don't have much crucial in my country anyways. But what about Corsair? Don't they have good memory as well? Let me know what memory i would need from Corsair. And also when added Windows 8 in the build, that motherboard won't work. I would be too expensive. Isn't there a motherboard from Asus, Gigabyte or ASRock with a 970 chip set that will overclock to at least 4.4 GHz? I though i read that the Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P would overclock pretty well. So please let me know if that would work as well for a little bit of overclocking.

MEM - The Corsair modules will likely be fine. Just be sure they are either DDR3-1600 CL9 1.5v, or sometimes you can find DDR3-1866 CL9 1.5v for a similar price. The latter are lower latency...

MB - The Gigabyte will likely be fine and support an overclock of 4.4GHz provided you have good airflow in the case (front/side/bottom intake, top/rear exhaust). For other options check prices on the ASRock 970 Extreme4 and ASUS M5A97.

Thank you Sadams04. I did manage to find a memory from Crucial. It is available as a one and two stick version but i am going with the one stick, because it is actually cheaper than the two sticks. It is a DDR3-1866 CL10 1.5v. I am assuming it doesn't matter that it is CL10 instead of CL9? And i chose the Gigabyte 970 motherboard just because an other thread said that this was the best 970 board because of its power phrase. I still got to look for some case fans but i will figure it out. But really thank you for all the information. I will get the parts soon.

It is best to install memory in matching pairs to take advantage of the dual memory controllers on the motherboard. Having mismatching sizes, or a single module installed, will have you running in single channel mode. Not exactly the end of the world, but you do loose performance. The latency (CL10) is fine for those DDR3-1866 modules. No higher though...

Oke then, i will be going with the Crucial version of the ram only which are 2x4 gb
