Need help choosing the right cpu AMD

I need help choosing the right AMD cpu mostly for gaming but I do some mastercam programming

Why an AMD CPU? An AMD is going to cost you more in the long run if you include the mobo and cooler

I'm upgrading my current system when I got my pc a friend told me that the fx 4100 that I have now was grate I just started messing with computers like two months ago at the time of me buy pc I was told that I would have no problem with anything I wanted to do come to Find out that the gtx 970 is getting bottle necked pretty bad from the 4100

What's your motherboard? You want something decent to power a FX8xxx CPU, no point upgrading to a 6xxx range CPU. However the best thing to do from a gaming performance point of view is sell your CPU and motherboard and switch to an i5

The FX 4100 IS A HORRIBLE piece of sh*t, you may as well throw it outside and run it over with your car, before buying a new CPU, and possibly a mobo

If I were going AMD I would go for either of the following CPU's.

AMD 8320
AMD 8350
AMD FX-9590

These are the best CPU's from AMD at the moment for gaming + video editing.

AMD will be releasing some new CPU's in 2016 with the "Zen" architecture if you want to wait till then however.

Although the "Zen" CPU's will be only supported on FM4 motherboards which supports DDR4, this will be a new socket type so take this in mind.

I'm kinda in between the 8350 and 8320 I'm not over clocking right now but plan to when I get more comfortable with more advanced aspects of computers

Don't OC with that board, just get a FX 8350 and call it a day, or... You can get the FX 8320E and overclock it slightly over 4.2GHZ

I'm saying this because people on this forum had problems with this board, and you know... MSI aren't the most reliable of board manafacturers

OK so since In not Abel to overclock should I be OK on air. And I got a good deal on the board found it on sale at Newegg for like $73 and some change

You are, slightly, its ok for a FX 8320E with decent air cooling
