Hello, I have a 500gb HDD and want to clone it to a 480gb SSD.

I have shrinked the 500 to 418.88gb. So now the drive has 100mb reserved, the 418gb and unallocated 46.78gb partitions.

Can I just proceed to put my clonezilla CD and clone?

Solution

No!

Do this:
Install Macrium Reflect
Power off
Connect the SSD
Power up
Run the Macrium application
Do what is says, reading carefully
Once it is complete, power off
Disconnect the old drive
Connect the new drive into the same SATA port the old one was in
Power up and see if it boots properly

Assuming it does, success.
Verify operation.
Maybe restart a couple of times, just to be sure it will boot from only the new SSD

Later, once you are satisfied, reconnect the old drive
Wipe...

It reads a lot more complicated than it really is.

Solution
Well, I spent hours trying to figure out how I would do this. Finally had the idea of coming back to good old tom's hardware. Then you came along with a super fast answer and fixed everything! I'm so glad this worked out! Thank you my friend!

One last question, now when I have partition C: showing, it is my ssd but I only have 418G total, and also a 99.9 mb partition reserved for system, showing in :computer.

Can I make my 418G back to what it was initially?
