Hello, I need some help cloning a laptop hard drive.
I am doing this for a friend and am having troubles doing so. He wants to replace his old laptop HD with a new SSD. I bought a compatible Crucial SSD for his laptop and tried to use Macrium Reflect to do a clone of the old drive to the new ssd but I keep getting an error of clone failed error 9, Clone failed-error 9 - read failed-23- Data error ( cyclic redundancy check ). I am trying to clone the compleat drive, OS and all. I have tried a few times now and keep getting the same error. did a chkdsk and I find no errors on the old drive but still get the same error . Am I doing something wrong or maybe a different program I should use. any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Ok update. I just tried again to see where the fail happens, there are 6 partitions on the old HD listed as such, 1) ESP (none) FAT32 (LBA) Primary 63.2 MB, 500.0MB. 2) (NONE) Unformatted Primary 128.0MB 128.0 MB. 3) OS (C
NTFS Primary 602.92 GB 918.96 GB 4) WINRETOOLS NTFS Primary 389.3 MB 450.0 MB 5) Image (NONE) NTFS Primary 9.86 GB 10.42 GB 6) Dellsupport NTFS Primary 611.6 MB 1.08 GB. Now on all the partitions they are labeled in blue except one, Partition 5) Image which is labeled in red. While Macrium is running I can get Partitions 1 and 2 and then when doing partition 3 which is the OS i get 598.97 GB out of the 602.92 and then I get the error failed. Hope this info helps a little, OH and by the way it is a windows 10 OS if that makes any difference. Please help
