Need help deciding between 2 AMD gaming PCs!

Hi,

I'm considering the next two AMD gaming builds:

What I'd like to know is: is the AMD FX-8350 worth the price difference? I mainly going to play FPS games like Bioshock, CoD, Crysis and FarCry.

I'd like to note that I also going to need a monitor so going with the pricier build will result in a cheaper monitor...

Any advice will be much appreciated!

What about build 2 with a the 7870 XT, both builds look good though, of course I would say build 2, but its more up to what you are willing to spend.

Do you have an OS? You are going to need one.

I indeed already have an copy of Windows 8... Build 2 with the 7870 XT is also a possibility! Does the 7870 XT hold its own against the 7970? In other words: does the performance gain justify the price difference (it's almost double the price!)?

Get the 2 nd build with i5 3570K and a proper mobo

With build 1 you are getting more bang for your buck. As you go up in price with GPU's the imrpvement does not really justify the price. This is evident with the 7870 vs the 7970. BTW defo overclock the 7870 its really good at overclocking

I also looked at Intel builds but they were much pricier than the AMD builds resulting in almost no room for a relatively good monitor... To clarify my budget is about €1200 (approx. $1550).

I was hoping to hear that! Just to be sure: build 1 will allow me to play the latest shooters at "high/very high" settings (possibly "ultra")?

yes, the HD7870 XT and the FX6350 are very capable. High and Very high on most games is a definant.

Awesome! That leaves enough financial room for the Eizo Foris FS2333-BK gaming monitor and the Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz 16GB (2x8GB) instead of the Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz 8GB (2x4GB)...

OFFTOPIC: Do I need extra fans for the Corsair Carbide 200R or does the stock case provide enough cooling?

It has two 120MM fans pre-installed, if I was you, I would toss in two more 120MM fans, and then I would be happy. You go have some hot components in the case.

I'd like to thank you all for your suggestions... I've decided to mix-and-match a little bit and decided to go with this build...

It's within my €1200 budget and I think it will suit me well for the coming 2 to 3 years playing the latest FPS games

I'll also throw in 2 120mm fans for extra cooling, but I've seen that they're not that expensive so that's okay!
