Hello,
I deciding on buying a Geforce 640 4GB edition. But I dont know if My power supply can run the card. It is a 300W without any PCI card connectors so it cant connect to cards. Can my power supply run this card?

Link to card:http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-4096MB-Graphics-04G-P4-2647-KR/dp/B008Y8PNRA/ref=dp_return_2?ie=UTF8&n=541966&s=pc

Honestly if you can't grab a 7750 then don't bother spending any money at all. Save up some cash and grab a decent psu and either a 7750 or something comparable. The 640 isn't that great of a card to put it lightly. It performs below a 450 and a bit below last gens entry level 6670 in some games.

To be quite frank, at 80 bucks, thats just a waste of money.

You need to tell us your PC specs before we can assess wether or not you can run a certain card. We need all the info, cpu, how many hdds, amps on psu, etc.

For all we know you could be using a 65w haswell/ivy chip in which case 300w could well be more than enough. (max 7750 can draw from the PCI-E socket is 75w)
I would say...no. 300w would be BARELY pushing this card. Mind posting your setup? That'll give me a better idea of what your working with.

Also, if your PSU doesn't have the PCI connectors, then how are you gonna power it? If you are thinking of using a molex to PCI power adapter, I wouldn't. Many times when PSU manufactures leave out such connections, it is because the power supply cant handle such a power pull. Think of it terms of PSU components, 12+v rails, capacitors, etc.

I would like to go with this (HD 7750): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161418

Here is the comparison of these 2 cpus: http://www.hwcompare.com/12822/geforce-gt-640-ddr3-vs-radeon-hd-7750/

Shows that HD 7750 has lower TDP and maybe more stable, plus higher memory bandwidth.
Besides, No need for equipping a entry-level 4GB GPU, 1GB / 2GB for a GT 640 or HD 7750 is enough. 4GB IS JUST ADVERTISING, WONT HELP TOO MUCH in games (besides it push the TDP higher and may increase the power consumption).

I have an HIS card and can say that they perform very well. BUT they are power hungry. This CPU is good and all, but it doesn't address his PSU problem. Until that is addressed, this is all speculation.
