Need help deciding on a water cooler.

Hello,

I have been thinking about getting a water cooler for my CPU for a while because my current cooler is just to big for my mobo (which I intend to change soon as well, but I think I have all that figured out) and I plan on overclocking so I figure if I am going to spend money on another cooler I might as well get as close as I can get to perfect.

So my question is, would it be better to go a closed or custom loop?

i have looked around and customs seems to be the answer but I haven't really heard anything about how the Corsair H110 performs, so I was just wondering if that would be better than a closed loop, they are almost the same price ($40 different) so if there is a huge increase in performance by going closed I'll definitely do it.

I am thinking about getting the XSPC Raystorm 750 EX240 if I were to get closed loop or the Corsair Hydro H110 if I am to get closed.

The closed loops preform quite well within a few degrees especially the H110 however it is louder than some of the custom loop radiators and pumps..

The advantage to Custom loops is that you can add to them in the future and replace bad parts change their config etc.

whoops, didn't realize where I was clicking and chose your answer as best solution, I wanted to leave this open a bit longer to see what other people had to say...

This is a cool solution, it kinda takes the best of both worlds. Takes Cooler Masters tech and mixes it with some custom parts, this is an option that I was unaware of and is appealing to me.

Yeah, I have been looking at liquid cooler options for a while now and I know that the H110 is worthy of my choice if I were to get it.

If noise is the only real major factor then I think closed might be my best bet since I wouldn't have to do any matenance (not like you have to do much to a custom loop anyways but you know) and if anything goes wrong I have Corsair and their warranty. Although I do like the fact that you can add on to custom's in the future and you can put on the parts that you want.... Ah, I don't know. I have literally spent 2 weeks trying to figure out which is the best option for me. Maybe I should just flip a coin cause either way, closed or custom, I can't go wrong, it seems.

The option that jamz brought up though is very appealing, the ability to choose your own parts and stuff, I'm going to have to read into it.

Not a problem and good luck deciding you can't go wrong either way really. Though you might want to keep looking at the Water cooling Kits which are pretty much just build your own AIO though with one brand. The AIO on the other hand are pretty much just plug and play.
