Need help deciphering pcix speeds

my current mobos pcix16 graphics slots (SLI) spec states:
"2 x PCI Express x16 slot at x16, x8 speed"
(asus m2nsli-deluxe)

im planning to move to a similar crossfire mobo and that spec states:
"2 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (*1x PCIe x16, 1x PCIe x4 or x1)"
(asus m4a78-plus)

does the deluxe sli mobo have faster pcix slots? im not quite getting what the plus crossfire mobo pcix numbers mean. if i crossfire dual 6970s on the crossfire mobo, will the mobo bottleneck the system in comparison with dual nvidia cards on the sli mobo? thanks!

Yes the Deluxe has much higher throughput for Xfire. the Plus would not be a good choice for Crossfire.

darn it. well the deluxe is only a SLI board.
looks like ill have to look at the newer am3+ boards then...bah, i wanted to save some cash.

why do they even name it "2x PCIe x16" when really its 1x pcix16 and the other slower?

Wouldn't you want a AM3+ board anyways for upgradabiltiy?

They name it "2x PCI-E x16" because both slots are x16 if used by themselves. If both are used it's 16x/4x.

what board/ i dont see a link. i may spring for a am3 evo board by asus as that falls into my pricerange more.
