Hello all,

Seemingly randomly my PC has been experiencing severe frame rate issues while running most games and some applications such as Unity. In the case of Unity, I see a delay in UI interaction as well as when minimizing/expanding the application window. Windows 10 and Google Chrome, YouTube, Netflix all seem to load and function as per normal. No delay at all.

Here are my user benchmark results if they are useful:
UserBenchmarks: Game 100%, Desk 91%, Work 101%
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X - 87%
GPU: Nvidia RTX 2070S (Super) - 112%
SSD: Samsung 860 Evo 1TB - 129.9%
RAM: Crucial BLS16G4D32AESB.M16FE 2x16GB - 92.9%
MBD: Asrock X470 Gaming-ITX/ac

I have tried the following without luck:
  • Windows Memory Diagnostic (Completed without errors)
  • Antivirus scan (I use Eset Security and it showed 0 threats)
  • Network reset
  • Clearing temp files, unused files/games (266GB of free space on my C drive)
  • Optimizing my startup applications
  • Updating all drivers including my GPU
  • Performing all available Windows updates
Nothing has worked so far. My task manager looks fine from what I can tell as well, even when experiencing the extreme frame rate issues. Some games also just refuse to launch now but provide me with no errors or reasoning why. Any insight into what the issue may be would be hugely appreciated. I am not incredibly techy so maybe the issue is something obvious..

Thanks

Solution
My issue turned out to be caused by Citrix Workspace. This is the fix that worked for me:

  1. Uninstall Citrix Workspace and grab the installer again from their website.
  2. Open up command prompt with Start > CMD.
  3. C:\Users\Admin\Desktop\CitrixWorkspaceApp.exe ADDLOCAL=ReceiverInside,ICA_Client,AM,SELFSERVICE,DesktopViewer,Flash,Vd3d,WebHelper,BrowserEngine
(Replace C:\Users\Admin\Desktop\CitrixWorkspaceApp.exe with the installer's directory)

This will install Citrix Workspace without Workspace Hub which has the Citrix Casting driver causing the crashing.

More details and an addition potential fix to Citrix caused issues can be found here:

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Userbenchmark doesn't take into account that a system is operating on a PSU(or needs one for that matter) which is why we ask folks to list their specs and mention the make and model of the PSU as well as their age if the unit has been in service for a while.

As for your motherboard, what BIOS version are you working with at the time of writing? Version(not edition) of Windows 10(assuming you're not on Windows 11)? If you have a healthy web browsing habit, you will get away with using Windows Defender, as opposed to using aftermarket antiviruses.

Hey thanks for the response!

System Memory: 32GB DDR4 3200MHz Digital Storm Performance Series
Power Supply: 550W Lian-Li PE-550 (Supports up to RTX 2070)
Storage Set 1: 1x SSD (1TB Samsung 860 EVO)
Graphics Card(s): 1x GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8GB (VR Ready)
Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio
Extreme Cooling: AMD Standard Factory Heat-sink and Fan

Graphics Boost: Yes, Overclock the video card(s) as much as possible with complete stability
OS Boost: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system

I've now completely cleaned all graphics drivers (Nividia as well as AMD/Intel to be safe) using Guru3D's DDU. After reinstalling the Nividia drivers the frame rate issues still persist. I've also updated my motherboards BIOS version to the latest available (P4.50).

While running the game Rust as a test, I am receiving only 6 FPS. Decreasing the graphics settings of the game to it's bare minimum does not show any significant impact.

This is what my task manager shows for the GPU usage while running this game at 6 FPS:

As a reminder, this happens with numerous games/applications, some of which won't even launch properly.

Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated.
