Question Need help, Did I damage my asus monitor?

I was playing an emluated atari game on a browser when the game showed flashing graphics, so I closed the game, only to discover the ghosting of the flashing graphics from the game became stuck on my monitor when I clicked on other stuff or when I turned my monitor off and back on, It stayed like this for 5 minutes until it started fading, this is the wierdest thing I've ever come acrosss, did I give my monitor dead pixels? , I don't see any dead pixels , but the flashing graphics from the game started to fade, how long should I give this until my monitor goes back to normal or did I damage my monitor?

Could be Image Retention (goes away after a while), does the ghosting still remains somewhat visible?

I think its gone, is image retention temporary? What would be the solution to fix this next time it happens?
