Im not the best when it comes to upgrading my cpu and finding out if I need a new motherboard, So Iv'e asked you folks for assistance!

My current motherboard is the: Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-D3H
My current CPU is: AMD Athlon x4 750k
My current GPU is: EVGA Nvidia Geforce GTX 750ti

I only plan to upgrade my CPU, but I need to know if my current motherboard can support
the : Intel i5 6400 Skylake 2.7GHz Quad Core 1151 Socket Processor

I dont really know myself, can someone please help?

If not, what is the best bet for a motherboard fitting a 750ti and a I5 Skylake?

Any chance you could link me a motherboard? I'm sorry for being excessive but I'm not the best with this kind of stuff, I just need a motherboard that can fit a 750ti and the i5 Skylake i showed.

Okay, how about if I didnt want this particular cpu? I mainly just want to upgrade to Intel as Im not a fan of AMD right now. Would their be another cpu thats easier and I can keep my ram atleast?

just so you know your video card is PCI-E 3.0 16x and to answer your question yes it fits the mobo SR-71 mentioned above as it has 1 x PCI Express x16 slot (and all the PCI Express lots are 3.0)

Im literally the biggest noob at these things, All I want to do is upgrade my CPU to Intel i5 or i7 or something. I dont mind paying for a new motherboard but I just need to know what CPU I can upgrade to without changing RAM, GPU or anything else but motherboard.

You can think about this board Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3 as it is an Intel 1151 socket and supports ddr3 ram that your board should support.

I would download and run cpuz and it will give you exact specs your system currently has or just open up your case and check.

Make sure you check your current specs to match your board. Mobo needs to fit the cpu you want, ram has to be supported, and the mobo has pic-e slot for your video card.

Well the board I suggested says 'Support for DDR3L 1866(OC)/1600/1333 MHz memory modules" is that good enough?

And the mobo supports the Skylake cpu he wants.

A motherboard might support any DDR3, but Skylake CPUs' memory controllers can be damaged by using RAM that is higher than 1.35v. The RAM in the system in my signature is 1.25v, but it's very uncommon to find DDR3 that's less than 1.5v. Chances are very good that OP's RAM is 1.5v, and would not be recommended to use with Skylake chips, regardless of what motherboard.

Go with Haswell if you want DDR3. That's my advice to you. You can still use your RAM on it.

Haswell is only a little slower than Skylake.
