I'm new to PC stuff in general, and I built one for the first time in the beginning of August. My PC ran pretty much perfectly with almost no issues until a few days ago.
Here’s the situation:
It started as an isolated incident at first, but got more progressive and frequent.
I go to launch a game, it loads for a few seconds, and then my monitor loses signal and goes black. Then all of my fans kick on to full speed and get really loud. Only thing I can do is press and hold the power button to manually turn it off. I have tested this on several games where the issue persists.
This has also happened once when opening a project on a video editing program, and once when just opening Steam.
A warning I keep seeing in the windows event logs is: “Event 2, NVIDIA OpenGL Driver: Ran out of memory”
Things I have tried so far include:
1. Moving the PSU cord from a power strip to an outlet.
2. Using DDU to do a clean reinstall on the GPU drivers twice.
3. Downloaded and installed the newest AMD chipset drivers.
4. Updated BIOS and flashed it to the most recent version.
5. Bumped RAM speed down to 6000 instead of 6400 in case my CPU couldn’t handle the speed.
6. Ran diagnostics to check the CPU and GPU stats. Including on games.
I moved my PC on top of my desk at this point and unplugged everything.
I have tried so many things and have been stressing because nothing has worked.
Sometimes a game will launch, and then other times it’s random.
My PC specs:
Motherboard: MSI B650 Gaming Plus Wifi
CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4080 SUPER
RAM: GSkill Trident 64GB DDR5
PSU: Seasonic Focus GX-1000
CPU Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin
Storage: WD_BLACK 2TB x 2
I have never posted here before, but I will admit that I am out of ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
