Hi Guys,

I just recently purchased an AlienWare Aurora R6 pretty much spec'ed out primary for high FPS & 4K gaming. One of the items I chose was a 16GB Hyper Fury X DDR4 2667 Mhz Memory. This memory came in a one 16GB stick (not two 8 sticks).

What is odd is that in task manager (windows 10) it says my RAM Mhz is at 2400 Mhz. I decided to look at the BIOS and it say the speed was at 2667 Mhz with an XMP 2 profile selected. So I wasn't quite sure why there was a discrepancy there.

I then decided to try running CPU-Z and the DRAM Frequency on that is hovering around 1330.5 MHz. So i'm not sure what to make of that. I know a lot of people who use CPU-Z run dual channel while mine is only single.

If anyone could shed some light I would appropriate it! I just want to make sure everything is working as intended before I start gaming.

Thanks,
Luke

Your BIOS and CPU-Z is correct. You are running at 2667MHz speed. The DDR (Double Data Rate) does not figure into the single channel or dual channel equation. Even when running a single stick or dual sticks, the data rate of ~1333.5MHz reported by CPU-Z is equal to ~2666MHz (i.e., ~1333.5MHz x 2, which is double the data rate).

Windows Task Manager *might* have a bug in displaying XMP as reported by some users with the same issue:

Hey,

Thank you for the quick repsonse that's puts me more at ease knowing it doesn't look wrong m.

Should I worrry that it's only registering 1330.5 MHz and not 1333 MHz? (Sorry new to this computer stuff!)
