Hello all, so i was looking to upgrade my current PC, however, i may opt out and build a completely new one. Currently, i only game occasionally on the PC so i am not a heavy gamer, however i do enjoy having it game ready for the latest titles.

I work from home so having a computer that is good at multi-tasking and gaming would be very beneficial. My budget is $1,000 however, i can go a little over because i usually find good deals. My budget is just for the components not peripherals.

If anyone can also let me know if there is anything i can save from my old build? and add it to my new one. Currently i am struggling choosing between i5 8400 and Ryzen 5 2600. Those are definitely the only CPUs i am going for. Also, which is the cheapest and best case with good airflow under $60 that shows components? I would like a white and black theme, but all black is okay too, ill just add fans.

Black/White Theme. Reuse your SSD, GPU & peripherals. I put in a 2560x1080P/75hz ultra wide that supports Freesync and would pair well with that GPU. It also would probably be better for your multitasking work. If you prefer to overclock then go with Ryzen, if you don't want to then Intel is the better choice.

The Asrock B350 motherboard BIOS has been updated to accept the Zen 2 CPU's.

I like the H440 for airflow and design but a better suited case for your $60 budget would be the Fractal Design Focus G White.

And yes it will work for the builds posted above.

WOW! Thank you for taking your time to do both these builds for me! I will look over the parts now. If i would in the future like to stream games as well, is the 8400 still a better option? I just want a cpu that can handle a heavy workload as well as game out of those two. Also, i dont think i'll be overclocking. I have never done it before and would not like to mess anything up. I love the Fractal case you suggested by the way!

Since you prefer not to overclock but want streaming you may want to get the 8700 as it has the extra threads unlike the 8400.

Thank you, might just stick with the i5 8400.

Here is the build i put together including my old case. It includes some of my previous components. I have no idea what to do with them if i upgrade. I'm not sure if keeping them would be okay or if its worth it to upgrade for the long run. Thanks again
