Current one have to speak directly into it, need something that can sit on the desk and still clearly pick up voice from different directions. Budget is <$25; is for child so better if it picks up higher end (treble?)

That one looks pretty good. Is there any advantage to using USB over 3.5mm input? Will be used with older Dell XPS Studio that has fairly decent integrated THX TruStudio.
I can't answer that question.
I also have a Blue Yeti mic ($100!) on my other PC which is a great microphone.
The Jounivo was almost as good as that Blue Yeti microphone and both mics are off to the side of my monitors.

I just got the mic and there's a kinda chamber/almost echo sound on receiving end; using headphones; did you notice that? Previous mic was 3.5 jack & unidirectional; don't know if either of these made a difference.
Are you saying you got a Blue Yeti mic?
If so, check the setting on the Gain button on the back and there's 4 different settings you can set the mic to depending on the surroundings you're in and how you're using it.
I've never had an echo sound when using mine but I'm simple, once I found the settings that worked best for my situation and how I used it, I left it alone and didn't change anything else.

I got the Jounivo (JV-601)
