I am having an issue finding a CPU Cooler that will fit my current build. It is a bare bones MSI Nightblade x2 system. The system is for Intel Skylake Processors, so I got the new Intel Core i5-6600. The problem I have is that the motherboard already has a bracket on the back of it with threaded holes for a CPU cooler. Of course the Stock Intel cooler is not threaded, so if does not work. I pulled the motherboard out of the case to see if I could take the bracket off off so that the stock cooler would fit, but the housing that clamps the CPU down is also screwed into that bracket. I have included a link to the brackets below. I either need another bracket that I can screw the socket clamp into so that I can use the stock cooler, or I need a cooler that can screw into the existing holes. Also the case being small, my cooler has to be under 5" overall height. Any help would be much appreciated.

So i checked out that cooler, and do like it, but i think i want to go a little shorter to be safe. I found the NH-D9L which is closer to the height I want. I looked at the mounting process and the bottom bracket will not fit through my board unless I can replace the current bracket with one that just holds the socket to the board. Can I get that socket bracket or what coolers screw directly into my bracket?

Unfortunately it did not come with one. The only one I have is the cooler that came with the Intel Processor. The Nightblade was ordered as a kit, but the only thing in that kit was the Case, Motherboard, Power Supply, and DVD Burner.

I went with the 6700k. Not planning to OC, but stock coolers don't fit on that MB anyway.

I'm thinking about buying the Noctua NH-L9x65, but have no idea if that'll be compatible.

I'm the original poster, but forgot login info. What I ended up doing was removing the motherboard, then the three screws that held down the top locking bracket, and very slowly and gently prying the rear X bracket off. That took time and patience. Once I removed the bracket I took the screws to the hardware and store and found matching nuts. I then put the locking bracket back on the motherboard and the locking post. I left the rear X brace off which freed up the holes in the motherboard. I then just used the stock intel cooler. It is quite and keeps the system cool. I kept the backer just incase anything happens and I have to return the motherboard.
