Need help finding a good monitor as a gift

I want to find a decent monitor as a gift to my boyfriend, and (obviously) I have no clue what I'm looking for. All I know is that he wants something with 144hz and he hates his current monitor because most of the games he has don't support its resolution, 1024x768. I'm looking for something decent for around $250. He mostly plays CS:GO, H1Z1, Overwatch, and Dirt Rally that I know of. He has a lot more games but he said he doesn't play them because they don't support his monitor. Please don't be mean because I'm a girl and I don't know what I'm talking about, I really want to do something nice and help him out until he can afford a really nice monitor. Thank you
