gonna use it for mainly gaming if that helps any.
and also which copy of windows 7 should i get?

honestly if you want a for sure legal copy your going to want to buy the oem for 100 bucks. However look on ebay (do not buy a cheap 30 key, they are fake listings and are on ebay every once in a while) there are other methods of getting windows 7 cheaply/free but that is illegal so

Be on the lookout for deals. I was able to get my hands on a copy of OEM Home Premium for a mere $80 on newegg after a coupon code I found. Unfortunately, the code had expired long ago but keep an eye out for these kinds of things.

That is debatable. In terms of gaming performance, yes they are quite similar, but in terms of many other aspects such as booting, shut down times, windows 8 does generally trump windows 7. I would go with windows 7 just because the windows 8 interface is a bit meh.

It's not really a personal preference once you install Start8 or Classic Shell then it becomes a better Windows 7 in a sense.

Metro is just terrible for a desktop user. -.-

It is really good if your using a mechanical hard drive.

With fast boot disabled it does load faster on my SSD than 7 does by a little.
