After several months of debate, I finally pulled the trigger and decided to go and build my first gaming computer. I have finished the overall build and all I need now is to install the OS and get/install a wireless card. My plan was to connect it to the internet via a wired connection since I understand that it is faster than a wireless connection. Unfortunately I found that the Ethernet port I saw in my room was not an Ethernet port so I am now forced to use a wireless card in order to connect to the internet. I was wondering what would be the best wireless card for the money I can use for games? I plan to play games like Battlefield 3 and other games from Steam. All recommendations are greatly appreciated!

Typically latency is the major issue with online gaming. I found wireless only added maybe 10ms to my pings worst case, and often it was no different. Yes wired is faster, but most wireless is several times faster than the average internet link.
I have had better luck with a PCIe/PCI based card vs a USB based one. I would recommend a well reviewed 802.11n PCIe card.

Depends on how complicated the location is. If they have to bust out drywall or get into a crawlspace or attic, etc it can be expensive and honestly just not worth the cost or hassle. A good wireless setup is virtually indistinguishable from wired ethernet for all but large file transfers.
You might also consider a homeplug setup, but the latency and speeds can vary with the quality and distance of your wiring. Just go wireless, it's not going to make that big of a difference.

I have a small form factor PC with a built in wireless card. When I go home, my computer, which is 20 feet from the router, with no walls in between, and a 5 bar connection all the time, gets messed up horribly.
1) The obvious: Lag. When trying to play games, the game will lag horribly because of latency - enough so that a player used to going 30-3 in an arcade shooter (Call of Duty) will go somewhere around 15-10.
2) The connection is spotty. You have no idea how annoying this can be if you're used to a wired connection, but booting your computer in 12 seconds and having to wait 5 minutes for the internet to decide to work is a bloody pain.
3) The bandwidth sucks. Even on an N-band router, I get half the download speeds I would with an Ethernet connection. (Which, sadly, isn't an option - both the Ethernet ports on the router are occupied by the business machines.)

Probably a noob question, but how does one go about getting a "good" wireless connection. I'm 15 and I don't think there's any possible way I can persuade my parents to abandon At&T for a new service just so I can have a better gaming experience. Is the wireless card I posted good enough for games like BF3? Hopefully it would be only temporary until I can get someone to put a ethernet port in my room.
Distance to router, other wireless traffic, quality of products etc. all play a factor. Wireless cards aren't going to be the cause of bad ping for games, they aren't going to turn 40ms into 190ms. It's more like 40 vs 50ms.
That looks like a good card, but I've never used it. Reviews are positive. Does your router support faster than 150Mbps with multiple links? If not, then you can save money and get one with a single antenna.
If it is temporary, I'd just get a $10 usb one. If it will be a permanent connection, then spend more and get an internal one with a good sized antenna.
