Hello friends, I have Asus Z270F Strix gaming motherboard. Last week I bought a Dell E2216HV as a second monitor, sadly I didn't read the specs too carefully, and as it happens it has a VGA port and my motherboard doesn't have any compatible ports.

The only solution I have right now, except for selling the monitor out, is that I get a cheap graphics card that can support VGA port and be compatible with my mobo. And also, it shouldn't degrade my machine's perf.

I'm planning to connect my new VGA monitor to the graphic card and let the current monitor be connected to HDMI on the motherboard. Can this work? if yes, which could be a compatible card for this config?

Some that I found out were:

1. ZOTAC GeForce GT 710 1GB DDR3

Not sure if this is compatible.

Need your help guys, not such a hardware geek.

Can't you return the monitor?
Also the board has a display port so you can just buy a displayport to vga adapter.

Also what are your other system specs because chances are that your cpu's graphics are way better than a garbage card like the 710.

@jaslion Apparently no, the store I purchased from offers only replacement. About VGA to DP, I researched that analog to digital requires an active converter and even after that it's not 100% solution.

The complete specs are:
1. Asus Z270F Strix Gaming
2. 8GB DDR4 Vengeance Corsair
3. Corsair VS 650 SMPS
4. Hyper 212X cpu cooler
5. AOC 27" monitor

It's digital to analog. All displayport convertors are active. it's the best solution for you. Also you didn't list your cpu.
Is this a gaming pc?

Sorry for the missing config,
CPU is Core i5 7600K
256GB SSD
1TB HDD

No this is not a gaming rig, I just use this for web development and some photoediting,
that is why I don't want to spend huge in GPU card.

I also thought about the Active converter but a couple of shops told me that they aren't 100% reliable, hence the doubt.

Don't know what the shops are talking about. I've been using cheap unknown mini dp to vga, dvi and hdmi adpaters for years now and they are just fine. Just get one and you'll be fine. Getting a gt 710 is pointless since it's quite a bit worse than what you have now with the igpu on the 7600k.
