:fou: OKAY! I recently bought a pc that was said to be a pretty high end PC but for some reason I can't play any high end games such as GTA 4, The Witcher 2, and Battlefield 3.

Here are the specs:
OS
Microsoft Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit

CPU
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+

Video Card
AMD Radeon HD 6670
I even looked at videos where people were using this card and playing games like Battlefield 3 On ULTRA, ULTRAA :fou:, PLUS this was an upgrade from the original chipset which SUCKED. I looked at Toms Hardware reviews on this card and it was said to be amazing. BOY WAS THAT A LIE!! -.-

Sound Card
AMD High Definition Audio Device

Can someone please point out what is wrong with my PC and why I can't play high end games ON HIGH TO ULTRA, or even at all. And if you find whats wrong can you recommend some replacements (preferably not to high priced). This really angered me and I desperately want to play some decent games. I can't even move in GTA 4 the frame rate is so terrible and the game is on f'ing low! Like wtf! But seriously all help would be much obliged. :fou:

Your CPU is the bottle neck. It's nowhere near high end, and it'll never be able to run BF3, GTA4 and Witcher 2 very well. The GPU isn't great either, but paired with a better CPU, it would do OK (just not Ultra at 1080p or anything. My system won't even do that (GPU limited, even with a OC'd GTX 560)).

It also depends on the resolution you play with. A Radeon HD 6670 isn't recommended for 1920x1200 / 1080 resolution if you are looking to max everything out. It should generally be able to handle 1280x1024 or 1440x900 for high / ultra graphics quality, but you will also need a powerful CPU to push high frame rates.

See following review for HD 6670 benchmarks. Note that the test rig uses a Core i7-920 clocked at 3.8GHz. That is generally around 70% more powerful than the Athlon 64 X2 3800+ in terms of pure processing power.

no wonder it was doing so bad, does anyone have any suggestions for a better processor. I've heard good of the AMD athlon II x2 250. If I got this would I be able to play those games at at least HIGH settings? And if you have any better options for processors in a similar price category feel free to express your opinions. I think my GPU isn't that bad when paired with a good processor. With 4gb ram along with it.

What's your budget?

Crysis 2 has pretty low system requirements because it was designed to run on game consoles; it was released as a DX9 game. It's system requirements is lower than the original Crysis. However installing the DX11 patch and the high resolution texture pack would require much higher system specs to play the game with decent performance.

What is your motherboard? AM2 socket boards will only accept a couple AM2+ Phenom IIs if any. if its AM2+ you're better off. really, if whoever you bought it from said it was highend and could play those games I'd throw a fit and get your money back LOL.

It was a great CPU when it came out... but I have a.higher version running a router, even the one running my parents XP box is at least a x2 5400

There are several videos where people are playing high end games using the amd radeon 6670 and with reasonably high fps. The resolution isn't to low either. Just youtube a couple of videos and you'll see what I mean. It really isn't that bad, I just need a good processor

They get better framerates than you because of their processor and resolutions.

go to RUN and type in dxdiag. after pop up it should give you some specs of your computer including your motherboard model.

and come on poeple not everyone knows about what cpu and gpu are best and how they perform. give this guy a break.

I recommend getting new motherboard, a phenom II x2 (x4 if you can afford it) 4GB DDR3 RAM and you can sell your GPU and pay a little more getting a 6770 or something similar. that would not be high end but will 100% play all games at reasonable quality.
BTW can you please tell us your screen resolution and screen size???

ANY x2 processor won't be able to play battlefield 3 when you go online.

The problem with the athon x2 3800+ is its either a 939 socket or an AM2.

If its the 939, there isn't really an option for upgrading, you will need a new motherboard also. If its an AM2, you could find a phenom X4 9xxx. Phenom II most likely won't work because most motherboard makers didn't update the bios, there were a few that did.

was this an hp or other name brand?

My motherboard is MICRO-STAR INTERNATIONAL CO., LTD MS-7125 (Socket 939)
