Need help for a build!

Hello I am planning on building a pc on my own and i want to know if my pc will work well with all the accessories i am adding to it.

My PC will have the following: -

Graphic card: MSI radeon 480 gddr5 8gb.

Mother board: Gigabyte ga-z270x-ud3.

SSD : MyDigitalSSD BPX 80mm (2280) M.2 PCI Express 3.0 x4 (PCIe Gen3 x4) NVMe MLC SSD (240GB).

Processor: I7 7700k .

RAM: Corsair dominator platinum series 16gb.

HDD: WD 1tb.

Power Supply: Thermaltake rgb 850 watt.

Cooling: Corsair Hydro Series H100i v2.

Case: Corsair 750 airflow case.


I will mainly be using this pc for some games such as overwatch, black ops 3, for honour etc.

I would like to know if i would be able to run these games properly on stock clock/ overclock.

I also want to know if 850 watt will be enough for what i am using and i will also be adding a RGB LED strip onto my case.

And also do i need additional cooling because i think there are already 2-3 fans in the case and i will also be using the corsair water cooling for the CPU.

If any one of you by any chance may have done the same build (99% impossible lol) please share your review on it.

Yes it will run well. But you definetely don't need a 7700K to run the RX 480. Either step up to a GTX 1070, or downgrade the CPU to a 7600K if you care about saving. (Unless you do productive stuff on the side, where the extra threads will help)

I would personally go for an EVGA G3 550/650Watt Or Seasonic G 550/650 instead of the thermaltake and save a ton of cash, aswell as the G3 being a better power supply. 850 Watts is way overkill for a single graphics card, 550Watts will be more than enough. 750 Watts if you consider going SLI/crossfire in the future.

OK thank you for your answer its greatly appreciated i shall think about getting a GTX 1070.
And also will there be any side effects of using a bit too much of power like you said using an 850 watt is overkill.

Some things to think about before placing the order ....

1. Lose the Corsair CLC ... or any CLC for that matter. It costs more, doesn't cool as well and is 12 times louder than a cheaper air cooler. I'd us a air cooler or , if ya want water, Id suggest real water cooling components with pumps capable of > 0.1 gpm and copper radiators.

2. You may not need the i7 ... if no video editing, rendering or other similar apps, the 7600k will server you almost as well ... and the difference won't be one you can notice. You will save $110

3. Step up to the Gaming 7 (Best MoBo under $200)

4. Your 240 GB will fit OS, needed utilities and programs and perhaps 1 or 2 games ... for all the other stuff you will be dragging at slow HD speeds. An SSHD (9.76 MB/s) is faster than a WD Black (636 MB/s) / more than twice as fast as the Blue (4.01 MB/s) in THGs Gaming test

The SSHD has a 5 year warranty and Failure rate of 0.43% ... The WD Black also has 5 year warranty and a failure rate of 0.45%

5. I don't see you benefiting in any way from the more expensive Dominator series. You didn't list relevant speed / CAS. I'd look at the Vengeance LPX series DDR4-3200 @ CAS 15 .. around $125

6. With that $110 saved, I'd upgrade to the 1070 ... the 1060 would be a minor upgrade but the 1070 upgrade is huge. But the process is made difficult my having no mention of playing resolution. The 1070 despite its 53% performance advantage, the 480 consumes 20% more power when gaming than the 1070 which means more heat, more noise along with less performance.

7. What is the purpose behind the PSU choice ? I'd let the bling (RGB) take a back seat to quality and performance. A 1070 would be very happy with a 520 watt quality PSU. But, in answer to your question, a PSU hits peak efficiency and lowest heat output at 50% load.

8. I really liked the Corsair 750 ... I had it penciled in for a recent build. Case selection is an aesthetic choice so it's often a very personal decision. But if features and performance matter, before ya pull the rigger, I'd look at the Phanteks tempered Glass cases (Luxe or Evolve) , which Tweaktown said was '"worthy of inclusion in an art gallery" and others "Case of the Year" / "Best PC Case on the Market".
