My laptop HDD is failing and I have to get a new one . I had 1tb 2.5" Seagate HDD which came with the laptop . It has failed within 1 year. Please tell me which brand should I go for and what to look for in the model. I use my laptop for video editing and casual gaming .

Drives eventually die. All of them.
You having a drive die after a year is no real indication of a bad brand or model. Just bad luck on that individual drive.

Yours died after a year. The drive that came off the assembly line right before it will last 10 years.
Couple of years ago, I bought 2 WD drives within a couple of weeks.
1 died after 5 weeks, replaced under warranty.
The other, and the replacement, are still going strong.

Seagate, WD, Toshiba....buy one of those, 7200 RPM, in whatever size you need, in your budget.
Since you're dealing with a laptop, you should be looking at 5400rpm or 7200rpm drives. Please note that higher rpm drives will produce more heat but will retrieve data fast while 5400rpm drives are slower at retrieving data but will dump less heat into your laptop.

What is the model for your Seagate drive? If you don't utilize much of the HDD's space, perhaps you could go for an SSD...? Can you pass on the make and model of your laptop? Regardless of warranty, you should always back up your critical data since the warranty is on the drive, not on the data on the drive.
