Hi guys I just need some help here. How should I know if my Motherboard can Handle a 16gb RAM? Im running at 64bit Operating System. Upon checking the Manual of my Motherboard im quite confused can someone validate if I can use 16gb RAM? Because im running at 8gb only. Pls see notes below copy pasted on the manual.

Motherboard: Gigabyte H61M-DS2 rev5.0

From gigabyte manual..

Memory
2 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 16 GB of system memory
* Due to a Windows 32-bit operating system limitation, when more than 4 GB of physical memory is installed, the actual memory size displayed will be less than the size of the physical memory installed.
Dual channel memory architecture
Support for DDR3 1333/1066/800 MHz memory modules
Support for non-ECC memory modules
Support for Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) memory modules
* To support XMP memory, you must install an Intel® 22nm (Ivy Bridge) CPU.
(Please refer "Memory Support List" for more information.)

Solution
You can't know for sure before actually trying on your motherboard. You can minimize the risk by using exactly same type of ram (aside from size), but even then there's no 100% guaranty it will work. So it is always good move to buy ram with open option of returning it, in case you get unlucky and get a mismatch with already owned sticks.
