Tell him the pre builts are overpriced and cut corners on important parts such as the motherboard & PSU and even for the same price he'll get a much better system.

Anyways, anything decent to play on 4K/60hz (min 1070S) it's going to cost at least $1800 if he went prebuilt.

Or if you convinced him to have you help him then this would be what your looking for and much cheaper & better quality then any BB prebuilt. Ultra/Max settings depends on the game

Even 1080P games look stunning, based on my own BF1 experience, anyway....
Agreed, I'm still playing at 1080P (kind of, 2560x1080P/75hz) and it looks great. Even with lower end hardware if you pair it with a good VA/IPS monitor the games will look fantastic. A friend of mine has a low end system that she plays WoW on (G4560/RX 570) and the game looks great due to the 27" 1080P/IPS/Freesync>>(To help with the raid/city dips) and that system is still going strong.
