Yes, your GPU will work regardless of your processor. However, I do recommend that if you are upgrading to a new GPU, you should upgrade your CPU as well. Dual core processors like the one you have are becoming obsolete and it will become increasingly difficult to run modern games.

As White Quacker said, I would upgrade CPU as well and that would be either Q6600 or Q9550 or Q9650 if supported.
